Property Description for 114 Amity Street

This magnificent, 30 foot wide 4-story mansion of approximately 5,000 square feet is located in the heart of Cobble Hill. The exterior of this landmarked 1902 Beaux-Arts style building is rich with original details. Inside you will find modern loft-like spaces in mint move-in condition that offer privacy and luxury.

Enter through the wrought iron and glass double doors into a 30-foot wide living and dining space with soaring ceilings that accentuate the home's generous proportions. An elaborate central staircase anchors the parlor floor, and dramatic Chesney mantels and other curated details add architectural interest. The large chef's kitchen has custom Henrybuilt cabinetry, top of the line appliances including a 6-burner Wolf range, Wolf oven and warming drawer, Sub-Zero refrigerator and wine refrigerator, and generous Corian counter space with a custom backsplash. Also on the parlor floor is a separate library or home office. Enjoy the private rear terrace for dining and cooking out.

The entire 1,200 square foot second floor is a private master suite, including a fireplace, built-in closets and custom bookshelves with storage, and great tree-lined and sky-lined views out of oversized windows. The double spa bathroom in soft beige tones has textured tiling and fixtures by Wetstyle, Toto and Lacava. A private study and entry area completes the master suite.

The third floor has 3 spacious bedrooms with large closet systems, each room with a lovely view. In the center of the third floor, you will find a library with custom built-in desks and bookshelves, which could be used as an additional bedroom. The large double bathroom includes an oversized washer and dryer and Wetstyle lavatories. The wide hallways are lined with storage closets.

The lower level English basement has a tremendous recreation room, large powder room, workshop and storage areas, and is plumbed for an additional washer and dryer.

Stunning views from the private roof deck make it perfect for entertaining or relaxing outside. The bar sink, wine refrigerator, movie screen and ample seating areas make it an ideal outdoor urban space.

The house has many more features, including: Siedle video intercoms, security cameras, Cat 5 wiring throughout, Verizon Fios, Bose in-ceiling speakers, alarm system, radiant heat, Bosch on-demand water heaters, HVAC, climate controls for each floor, and custom millwork throughout.

Shown by private appointment.

Cobble Hill | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The neighborhood now known as Cobble Hill was originally settled by Dutch farmers in the mid-1600s. Tucked along the East River, in the heart of Brooklyn, Cobble Hill is known for its welcoming, leafy streets, independent mom-and-pop shops, and 19th century brownstones.

Most of Cobble Hill lies within an historic landmark district, and building heights are restricted to 50 feet, which helps maintain its 19th century atmosphere. Building owners will often split the use of their four- or five-story buildings, occupying several of the top floors and renting out the ground floor as apartments or, conversely, occupying one or more of the lower floors and renting out the top floors. New construction and alterations to existing buildings in the historic district require approval by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, which helps maintain the historic character of the Cobble Hill neighborhood.

Although most housing in Cobble Hill consists of traditional brownstones and brick townhouses,, you will also find churches that have been converted to condos, carriage houses that have become luxury apartments and Victorian school houses that have been converted into lofts.

Court Street and Atlantic Avenue are the main commercial streets in the neighborhood. You will find popular Middle Eastern restaurants on Atlantic Avenue. Court Street is home to casual restaurants, many with outdoor seating, relaxed cafes and hip bars.

Many young professionals and families live in the brownstones, townhouses, and single-family homes that line the leafy streets. Cobble Hill is a great place to live if you work on Wall Street, as you can walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to work.
