Property Description for 330 East 56th Street, 601

This beautifully appointed and designed 1,119SF 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath Condo with North, West & South exposure reflects the timeless spirit of the Sutton Place neighborhood and the contemporary flair of the AKA lifestyle. This home is delivered fully furnished and designed with a modern furnishings collection curated by Edward Asfour of Asfour Guzy Architects with a special focus on comfort, functionality and timeless aesthetic value. Asfour's approach to architecture and design is notable for nuanced detail, use of refined natural material, and a distinctive humanism that complements Sutton Place's classical pre-war coffered ceilings, rich mahogany floors, and amply-proportioned, light-filled rooms. This home offers a feeling of modern comfort and design as soon as you step into the elegant foyer introducing one to the magnificent over-sized living room with windows facing South and West. Both the Master Bedroom and 2nd Bedroom are unobtrusively separate from the entertaining area, providing both bedrooms with tranquility away from the rest of the apartment. The Master Bedroom features dual exposures with windows facing North and West as well as two large closets and a full en-suite bathroom. The large Second Bedroom features a large custom built out closet and double windows both facing North. No detail was overlooked in the gourmet kitchen outfitted with all the necessities one needs featuring Sub-Zero & GE appliances, Dacor stainless steel induction range & convection oven, matte white finished Poggenpohl cabinetry, granite countertops and Kohler stainless steel sink with Dornbracht fixtures. The two modern and luxuriously designed bathrooms feature Calcutta Gold marble flooring, glass-walled shower with dark brown finished ceramic tiles, high gloss white Wetstyle lavatory with Dornbracht fixtures and Robern mirrored medicine cabinet.

Sutton Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Sutton Place is usually described with favorable words like charming, cozy, great neighborhood, hidden gem, sanctuary, or even small village inside a big city. Those descriptions aren’t from real estate folks either, they’re from the people that live and work there, so it must be true.

The quiet and upscale neighborhood is more like an enclave. It’s bounded by East 53rd Street to the south, East 59th Street to the North, First Avenue to the west, and the East River to the east. Most residents will tell you that everything you’ll ever need is located in the neighborhood. When it’s time to venture out into the cityscape, Sutton Place is within easy reach to Midtown and cultural attractions like the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center, Central Park and other iconic sites.

Manhattan has always had notable celebrity residents. But for unknown reasons, Sutton Place has had more than its share of superstars over the years. Some of the more iconic celebs include: Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller, Freddie Mercury, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Crawford, Michael Jackson and sister Latoya (Just for one summer).

Sutton Place is named after Effingham B. Sutton, a shipping merchant and entrepreneur. After hitting it big in the California gold rush, Sutton built brownstones along East 57th and East 58th streets with aspirations of making the section more residential. Poverty and crime dashed his dreams. The street gangs that hung out along the dead-ends and cul-de-sacs added to the neighborhood’s decay. Sutton was about to give up on his development endeavors but the Vanderbilt’s and the Morgan’s showed up in the 1920s and transformed the neighborhood. It soon became a wealthy enclave.
