Property Description for 221 West 82nd Street, 8-B

This elegant home is truly an oasis on the magnificent Upper West Side. A dramatic entry foyer welcomes you into this classic, high-floor, 1-bedroom/1.5 bath apartment. Its ideal layout is sunbathed from Eastern and Northern exposures and features carefully preserved, and gorgeous pre-War detail.

The spacious, Northern-exposed living room boasts open city views overlooking the gorgeous Church of the Holy Trinity, 9' beamed ceilings and beautiful oak parquet floors. An oversized, newly renovated, chef's eat-in kitchen is windowed and provides plentiful space for cooking. It is outfitted with top-of-the-line appliances, including a Bertazzoni stove and microwave, Blomberg refrigerator and Bosch dishwasher. Granite countertops and ample, custom-made, white wooden cabinets accent the sleek design.

The large, corner bedroom offers quiet privacy with light streaming in from dual exposures and includes a thoughtfully designed, large, walk-in, California closet. Its en suite bathroom has been stunningly renovated with marble and stone tile and Kohler fixtures. A convenient guest bathroom has also been renovated.

Abundant and large closets offer many opportunities for storage. And finally, a washer/dryer complete the comforts of this home.

The Rousseau is an Emery Roth-designed, full service condop ideally located in the center of all the spectacular UWS has to offer and is convenient to all major transportation, dining and shopping, including Zabar's and Citarella. The building has a 24 hour doorman, live-in super, beautiful marble lobby, central laundry room, bike storage and children's playroom.

This summer a newly refurbished roof garden will open.

Upper West Side | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Bracketed on its east and west borders by massive city parks, the Upper West Side (UWS) is known for its greenery, stately and elegant townhomes, safe streets and great schools, all of which make it a very desirable neighborhood for families. The UWS has maintained its community feeling, making it attractive to young professionals and retirees, both of whom want a sense of belonging in the place they call home.

Here you’ll find many apartment buildings, especially those along Central Park West. Historic architecture abounds, anchored by four luxury co-ops - the San Remo, Majestic, Century and Eldorado apartments - all of which have two towers on their interiors. They were built in the 1930s and their design was predicated on a 1929 building code that imposed a height limit on residences facing the street. There are also impressive row houses near Riverside Drive throughout the W 70 and 80 Streets. Above the 90s, you will find smaller buildings where walk-ups are very reasonably priced.

There are several world-class museums and venues dedicated to the performing arts. Plentiful dining can be found in the UWS. You will find everything from quaint Jewish delis serving up bagels and a schmear to sophisticated fine dining that has earned multiple Michelin stars, and everything you could possibly want in between. There is also abundant shopping and a vibrant nightlife.
