Property Description for 333 Central Park West, 44

Albert Joseph Bodker was a successful architect around the turn of the last century, but the Turin became known as his masterpiece when it was completed in 1909. The building is adorned with many of that periods typical architectural details like a domed glass entry canopy, a 2-story limestone base embellished with male and female figures, arched windows on the first floor and ornamental wrought-iron planting balconies. When designing this 12-storey building, Bodker took considerable liberties with the then popular Italian-Renaissance-palazzo-style design and they were very critically acclaimed. Even today, the Turin is one of the very few apartment buildings that has successfully incorporated deep courtyards, designed to provide more light and air to each apartment. Hidden behind the beautiful pre-war faade is a building with all of the modern amenities needed for comfortable city living: individual storage units, a well equipped fitness center, a fabulous playroom, bicycle room and building laundry to supplement the washer and dryer in your apartment. And if there are pets in your life, it is good to know they are allowed with board approval. Apartment 44 is uniquely located within the building to take full advantage of the structure's pronounced H shape. As a result, this unit has 3 exposures with 17 windows and shares no wall with a neighbor. Upon entering the apartment, one is immediately struck by the grandeur of the space. Rarely do you come across a more impressive gallery (34'x5'), and almost never does a gallery lead to a living room with such loft-like stats. (When a room is 16'x35', has 10' ceilings and boasts 10 oversized windows in 3 exposures, the term loft-like is indeed applicable). Having loft-like living room overlooking Central Parknow this is something truly unique! With the 10' ceiling height continuing throughout the apartment, the grandeur extends to the massive master suite With the suite's 20'x20' floor plate, there is plenty of space to get creative if the current layout does not suit. The important and most visual parts of this apartment have just completed a meticulous renovation, including all new hardwood and sound insulation on the floors, skim coating and painting of the ceilings and walls, new housing around the radiators, new electrical wiring and new lighting. This recent work can complement a classic dcor as well as a modern one. However, most buyers will want to bring their own style to the kitchen and baths, as these still look like my parents home did in the early 80's.

Central Park West | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Home to some of New York City’s most famous buildings like The Dakota, with its enchanting architecture, and the equally impressive San Remo just a couple streets away, Central Park West is one of the most eye-popping neighborhoods to live in.

It is historically renowned for its blending of architecture and residential living. So much so, that it earned a listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is thought to have some of the most diverse and beautiful skylines in all of New York and has drawn celebrity residents for decades

If world-class architecture isn’t enough for you, there are plenty of warm brownstones to be found as well. There is so much to do in Central Park West, the most obvious being in the name of the neighborhood itself. With Central Park running the length of one of its borders, there’s easy access to the park and all its wonders, running trails, row boats, and bridges. If you prefer the indoors, the American Museum of Natural History is at your service.

There are few places in the world that can match Central Park West’s varied combination of urban and residential charm, elegance, and spirit.
