Property Description for 36 White Street, 5

The Perfect Downtown Loft!! Full-Floor, Sun-Flooded Penthouse with Soaring 15-Foot Ceilings, Three Stunning Skylights, and Direct Keyed-Elevator Access! All within an architecturally significant cast-iron building at a premier Tribeca location within short walking distance to both the West Village and SoHo! Plumbing already in place for the easy creation of a second bathroom! Truly not to be missed!

As you enter the home, you are immediately struck by how much light it receives via its triple exposures-south, west, and north-as well as its three beautiful skylights. The home's western views are particularly striking, framing an unobstructed, panoramic Tribeca cityscape dotted with beautiful landmark buildings. The home is currently laid out as a split 2-bedroom separated by a spacious living/dining room, but as true loft space, one could configure the space in a near endless variety of ways. The home is further enhanced by an open, windowed kitchen, a secondary dining area, two separate sleeping lofts, multiple storage spaces, lovely strip hardwood floors, gorgeous exposed brick walls, and an in-unit W/D.

This boutique, well-run, pet-friendly cooperative permits up to 70% financing, and the building is primely located at an unbeatable Tribeca address. Transportation is a breeze with the 1 and 2 trains just two blocks away and the 6, A, C, E, J, and Z trains just three blocks away. 550-acre Hudson River Park is a few blocks to your west, and you are surrounded by the most lauded and diverse shopping, dining, and entertainment that the city has to offer. For example, amble less than a block to the celebrated Roxy Hotel (sister establishment to the nearby Soho Grand Hotel), where you can linger over one of the best weekend brunches around, enjoy light fare, wine, and signature cocktails at the Roxy Bar or the more intimate Paul's Cocktail Lounge, experience a slice of Cape Cod at the popular Oyster Bar, cut a rug at the Django jazz club, take in a film at the Roxy Cinema while surrounded by Art Deco grandeur, and grab a cup of coffee on your way to work at Jack's Stir Brew Coffee.

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
