THIS HOME IS NOT FOR EVERYONE...

It is for people who demand the best and have discerning taste as this world-class custom designed, out of the ordinary, remarkable home satisfies those with a critical eye. The vision of the current owners make it possible for you to experience instant gratification as it is luxury within reach. It is an unforgettable complete package and a "Work of Art" available for the first time. Think... limited edition... with only one available! You will find more to like than ever before including a coved ceiling in the exquisitely renovated open plan loft-like kitchen. Every major room has a window reflecting picture perfect and captivating angled river, bridge and Sutton Place views. Please follow me as we pass through the threshold into your entry foyer onto dramatic wide plank hardwood mahogany onyx floors that immediately set the romantic mood of this uncommon home. You'll immediately be struck by the rich open floorplan creating a downtown feel in an elegant midtown location. In addition to being drawn to the glorious, embracing light filtering through almost floor-to-ceiling windows in your grand room, your eyes will be delighted by your brand new open ultra-modern California-style kitchen with top-of-the-line cabinetry. Did I mention that there is also a wine fridge? The dining area is large enough to delight your guests as they gather around awaiting a sumptuous meal.

Your new home has been redesigned so please expect an enhanced floor plan! I promise you that you'll love the metamorphosis of this line in one of the most prized buildings on Sutton Place! Higher than average ceilings will delight the eye--there's no substitute for perfection. There's an abundance of closets including walk-ins. Also endless walls to display your art collection--these are just a few more outstanding elements. If this is the kind of quality that suits your upscale living, let's continue through to your highly coveted split bedrooms where you will appreciate even more satisfying details. In addition, there are also two full bathrooms and "Yes" the master bedroom has an elegant bath en-suite offering total and complete privacy. Both full baths continue the modern aesthetic offering only the best--think Robern, Toto, Grohe, cast iron soaking tub and more. Of course, you'll adore the Italian porcelain tiles offering you a spa like retreat.

And that's not all... there's even a washer / dryer, custom built-in cabinets around HVAC units that add additional storage above, and rarely available closets for your personal documents or other personal items.

20 Sutton Place South is a well-established boutique (less than 90 homes), white glove, secure, full-service doorman house that has a live-in superintendent, private storage space, roof deck, gym... Close by there are two parks that overlook the East River including a dog run. The house was designed by the renowned architects Boak & Raad and is considered to be one of the most respected mid-century high rise buildings. Boak & Raad were purportedly known to be "incapable of doing a bad drawing, a bad design. No one was comparable". Your new home is conveniently located as you'll love being close to crosstown buses, the subway (lines 6, E, M, 4, 5, N, Q, R, and F) and one of the finest supermarkets in NY-Whole Foods.

As we said before, this is not a home for everyone but if you demand the best, don't want the common and won't settle for less and if you enjoy all the accoutrements of success, you'll want to add this home to your personal collection. Call me today!

Sutton Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Sutton Place is usually described with favorable words like charming, cozy, great neighborhood, hidden gem, sanctuary, or even small village inside a big city. Those descriptions aren’t from real estate folks either, they’re from the people that live and work there, so it must be true.

The quiet and upscale neighborhood is more like an enclave. It’s bounded by East 53rd Street to the south, East 59th Street to the North, First Avenue to the west, and the East River to the east. Most residents will tell you that everything you’ll ever need is located in the neighborhood. When it’s time to venture out into the cityscape, Sutton Place is within easy reach to Midtown and cultural attractions like the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center, Central Park and other iconic sites.

Manhattan has always had notable celebrity residents. But for unknown reasons, Sutton Place has had more than its share of superstars over the years. Some of the more iconic celebs include: Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller, Freddie Mercury, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Crawford, Michael Jackson and sister Latoya (Just for one summer).

Sutton Place is named after Effingham B. Sutton, a shipping merchant and entrepreneur. After hitting it big in the California gold rush, Sutton built brownstones along East 57th and East 58th streets with aspirations of making the section more residential. Poverty and crime dashed his dreams. The street gangs that hung out along the dead-ends and cul-de-sacs added to the neighborhood’s decay. Sutton was about to give up on his development endeavors but the Vanderbilt’s and the Morgan’s showed up in the 1920s and transformed the neighborhood. It soon became a wealthy enclave.
