Property Description for 435 East 52nd Street, 11-G

Chic and grand immaculately renovated on a high floor in the iconic River House, this four bedroom, six and one half bath apartment is ideally suited for both modern everyday living and gracious entertaining. Apartment ownership now comes with automatic membership in the River Club, with its unsurpassed amenities including a swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, children's activities, garden, gym, and a restaurant and bar. The River House is the East River's finest prewar cooperative building - known for its large motor court, superior service, and beautiful Art Deco architecture.

A private elevator landing opens to an enormous gallery, which leads to three expansive rooms facing the river. The elegant corner living room has a wood burning fireplace and large bay window offering expansive views to the south and east. It leads gracefully to a beautiful river-facing library with custom millwork as well as a second wood-burning fireplace. The 30' dining room, also on the river, is perfect for grand-scale entertaining. The powder room and large cloak room are well-located off the gallery.

The large eat-in kitchen is outfitted with top-of-the-line appliances, a massive chef's stove, and abundant pantry space. The kitchen opens to a bright corner den or breakfast room with an en suite full bath, making it a flexible space for an additional bedroom. Adjacent to the kitchen is a laundry room, large staff room, and an additional full bath.

The expansive private quarters consist of four large bedrooms each with an en suite bath. The master bedroom suite includes an enormous dressing room crafted in custom cerused oak with extraordinary closets and two elegant baths.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
