Oversized and gorgeous one bedroom with windowed dining alcove, offering amazing light and views throughout, in a well-run Morningside Heights cooperative.

This elegant and spacious home resides on the top floor of the building and guarantees an extremely private and quiet environment. With its Eastern and Southern exposures, the rooms are sun-drenched with open City views. The kitchen has been fully renovated with maple cabinets, granite countertops and high-end appliances, including Miele dishwasher, Viking stove, Thermador hood, Liebherr fridge and a Miele washer. It also offers ample storage, including two tall pull-out pantries. The dining alcove is currently fitted out as a lovely home office, flooded with natural light thanks to an oversized window.

The comfortable corner bedroom has both South- and East-facing windows and two spacious closets, including well designed storage systems.

Other features include beautiful herringbone and plank oak flooring, high ceilings and original moldings, elegant built-in bookshelves in the living room, Lutron dimmers throughout the apartment and a thru-wall split air-condition unit in the living area.

The Matincote is a full-service, pet-friendly, 100-unit, Prewar cooperative with attended lobby, live-in superintendent, bike storage, and laundry room.

Situated on 112th and Riverside Drive, the building was designed by Gaetan Ajello - one of the premier Prewar architects of the Upper West Side - and is around the corner from incredible shopping, restaurants, transportation, and access to Riverside Park!

Morningside Heights | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Due to the large number of institutes of higher learning that are housed within its borders, most notably Columbia University, Morningside Heights has a very definite college-town vibe. It has been dubbed the “Academic Acropolis,” both for the large number of schools and for the fact that the neighborhood is built high atop the Manhattan schist bluffs that are the geological bedrock of NYC. From this vantage point, which is the highest point of land in all of Manhattan, you can take in stunning views of upper Manhattan and the Hudson River. Sunsets are especially breathtaking from Riverside Park.

Walk through Morningside Heights and you’ll see a diverse population, especially when the schools are in session. It has a generally quiet atmosphere, bounded by large green spaces, dotted with small cafes, specialty stores, and restaurants that offer all manner of international cuisine. There is a modest nightlife consisting of intimate bars and small musical venues, many of which are open to the wee hours of the morning, and frequented by students.

Housing is primarily pre-war buildings that have larger apartments and beautiful architecture clustered around Broadway. You can find affordable walk-ups in low-rise buildings on the side streets. Many of the residential buildings in the area actually are owned by Columbia University.
