Property Description for 100 East 50th Street, 42R-R2

One of New York's most majestic Park Avenue apartments is available for short or long term lease. Truly grand in proportion and elegance, built for the Duke & Duchess of Windsor as their New York residence.

This apartment features an impeccably decorated grand living room providing spectacular north-east-west views. There are Tiffany blue walls accented with gold leaf panel moldings; European fabrics in ivories, light blues and gold's adorn lushly upholstered seating and drapery treatments in layers of champagne colored Italian silkscomplete the look of quiet luxury. Lighting this understated opulence are eight new antique gold candelabra sconces and a Venetian chandelier. All this opulence is intermixed with modern conveniences such as Plasma TV hanging over the fireplace, and a fully equipped workstation hidden in antique sideboard.

The dining room conveys a sense of elegant intimacy encased in lush fabric upholstered paneled walls above newly installed wainscot panels. Shades of bronze tinted gold fabrics with blue accents provide a backdrop for a mahogany Empire dining table that can accommodate up to sixteen people for formal dinners.

There are two master bedrooms one grandly scaled master suite and another smaller, but equally appealing bedchamber.

The master bedroom very much in keeping with the Duchess's style with the furnish colorations in soft blues and silvers. The case goods are painted in white and gold, and over the fireplace mantle is a hand-painted trumeau. There is also a wonderful master bath overlooking Park Avenue.

The second bedroom has Antique mahogany case goods against a backdrop of light gold wall covering within painted panel moldings are complimented by upholstered seating in rich saddle colored chenille fabrics. Midtown East | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Midtown West and Midtown East have a lot in common. They’re bustling, iconic, and full of people. But just like siblings, their personalities can be vastly different. Midtown East is a bit more sophisticated and doesn’t quite have the vivacity and unruliness that its westerly counterpart exudes.

Midtown East is bordered by 42nd to the south, 59th Street to the north, 5th Avenue to the west, and 3rd Avenue to the east.

The neighborhood is famous for its high-end stores, tourist attractions, posh hotels (budget ones too), and iconic architecture. Midtown East is also one of the largest financial and business hubs in Manhattan. During normal business hours the sidewalks are full of commuters and people moving from point A to point B. In the early evening, when the masses have left for the day, things suddenly get a little quieter and the sidewalks have a lot less foot traffic.

Although largely a commercial neighborhood, residential areas of Midtown East do exist on the eastern section of the neighborhood.

Grand Central Station is located in Midtown East and like Midtown West, it’s an extremely commutable neighborhood. The 4, 5, 6, 7 and S trains whisk people in and out of the neighborhood 24 hours a day. Grand Central Station also serves as a hub for New York State and Connecticut commuter rails. These trains can take you anywhere along the Hudson River or up into Connecticut. It’s perfect for day tripping.
