Property Description for 109 West 26th Street, 7-FLR

This superbly renovated, almost 4,500 square foot, full-floor, open plan co-op has four exposures, with light on all four sides, and is currently configured as a two bedroom, two bath unit with fabulous open kitchen and three very large entertaining rooms.

One enters the 7th floor space from the keyed elevator into a private vestibule leading into a generous gallery incorporating the fully equipped kitchen. To the south is an enormous, 44' long Great Room with three banks of massive windows flooding the room with light. It currently is divided into an office, living room and library. Also off the entrance gallery is a bedroom serviced by a bathroom opposite that doubles as a powder room, adjacent to the laundry. To the north, is an expansive second living room and dining room that easily could be converted into additional bedrooms and still retain more than adequate space for a large family room/dining room. In the northwest corner of the property is an over-sized master bedroom with en suite dressing room and enormous spa bathroom with separate shower and Jacuzzi bathtub. Running the entire width of the north end of the loft is an unusual paned glass partition creating a discreet storage area behind while transmitting natural light into the adjacent rooms from a line of eight exterior windows. This unique partition evokes the original use of the space when it was an industrial workshop.

This highly desirable loft has exceptional light, soaring beamed 11' ceilings, and a flexible floorplan that easily can be converted into a four/five bedroom, four bath residence. The unit has a tremendous amount of closet and storage space, beautiful original pine floors, and is fully air conditioned. The building has two-way TV recorded intercom for access. Pets are permitted. Its location between 6th and 7th Avenues, near trendy boutiques and restaurants, high end art galleries, the Flower District, FIT and public transportation cannot be beat!

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
