Property Description for 214 East 9th Street, 4-C

A townhouse in an East Village Penthouse! Must be seen to truly experience all of the amazing design flourishes that went into making this home an Architectural Digest-featured property. No detail was overlooked in the gut renovation of this triplex, convertible-two bedroom with sprawling rooftop garden, and complete with outdoor shower. Designed by EAU, the apartment boasts a plethora of custom finishes, starting with the 7" to 10" wide-plank, bleached white oak floor throughout all three levels.

All kitchen cabinets were designed specifically for this home and stained to match the neutral color palette throughout, with a custom Lacanche range and full-slab Carrera marble countertops and backsplash. The sun-drenched, south-facing living room has vaulted 18' ceilings, oversize windows, and a fireplace. The stairs lead up to a sitting area/media room, which was formerly the apartment's master bedroom, and has an extensive walk-in custom closet. The master bathroom has a steam and rain shower, as well as free-standing, clawfoot tub, which is accentuated by a vintage crystal Kinkeldey chandelier. Full-slab granite marble flooring and a double Carrera marble vanity receive plenty of extra light from the bathroom's skylight. The top floor is the master suite, with an operable window wall that leads out onto your own private rooftop oasis

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
