Property Description for 25 Prince Street, PH

Romance and glamour abound in this absolutely stunning and mint turn-key triplex penthouse on one of the most charming Nolita blocks of Lower Manhattan. A stone's throw from the iconic Basilica of St Patrick's Cathedral leaning brick wall and Elizabeth Street Sculpture Garden and surrounded by the best restaurants and shopping in Downtown is this discreet, boutique condo at 25 Prince Street. There are two entrances: a private, key locked elevator landing on the fourth floor, or a door at the bottom of the four-story custom curved marble staircase on the third floor landing of the building.
The elevator opens to a gracious foyer with entry closet and open plan living, dining and kitchen area with north and south exposures and a private terrace off the eat-in kitchen. Floor to ceiling wood framed windows, with separately opening clerestory windows in the kitchen, flank either side of the grand scale entertaining area. The Roman and Williams designed kitchen features bespoke black wood and oak cabinetry, a Wolf range and stove with pot filler faucet, and tons of storage options with power in all the right places. The room is wrapped in gorgeous hand-painted mural wall coverings creating a serene setting for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The terrace offers the ease of indoor/outdoor seasonal cooking and looks at ivy wrapped brick buildings and a lovely landscaped common garden shared only with the two other apartments in the building. There is a built-in wine fridge and marble clad half bathroom tucked away on this level. The internal private elevator cum entertaining bar is accessible on each level of the apartment hidden behind a paneled door. The living room has custom bookshelves and lighting, herringbone floors, and gets streaming sunlight all day from the enormous south facing windows.

Up the marble staircase to the second level of the apartment one will find two bedrooms and a full bathroom. One bedroom features a gas burning fireplace and fabric upholstered walls and would make a lovely study or library. The second bedroom has a private entry way with elevator landing, floor to ceiling Carrera marble slab bathroom with Waterworks fixtures, shower and tub. This bedroom has its own private glass wrapped terrace with joe wood decking and enough room for lounge seating. There are two extra-large outfitted closets flanking the room and floor to ceiling windows across the entire North wall. Custom wall coverings and drapery frame the room and create for a magical and serene retreat. There is a discreet media cabinet hiding all the necessary equipment but with easy access.

The top floor master suite is a world unto itself. Enjoy a ride up with a cocktail or snack in the outfitted bar/elevator or walk the grand, curved and paneled stairwell with a massive skylight at top; the ultimate retreat awaits you. The master bedroom also has a wall of floor to ceiling wood framed windows and door that lead to a terrace that has been expanded for maximum utility. Blue skies, ivy, and Hollywood Junipers frame an iconic downtown view. The terrace features a seating area, planters, and the coveted outdoor shower and bathtub for relaxing and bathing under the stars. There is a fully outfitted walk-in closet with moveable island, built-in laundry storage, and tons of unique fixtures and cabinetry for the most fashionable collector. The master bath is as spacious as any other room in the house. It has a double wide marble and steel vanity, walk-in shower with a curved marble mosaic wall, and deep soaking tub. The three wood-framed south facing windows have a peek of a view of the Freedom Tower and sits above all the beautiful cornices of the townhouses that surround. Electric shades offer maximum privacy without compromising the glorious natural light.

Artfully conceived by Roman and Williams and upgraded by the current owners with a plethora of bespoke touches, there are herringbone parquet floors throughout, central AC/heat zoned by room, radiant floors in the bathrooms, recessed and custom lighting fixtures, a gas fireplace, three private outdoor spaces all with water and power, and tons of custom storage throughout. The apartment has private vented laundry and storage in the basement accessible only to this apartment. There is a washer/dryer hook up in the unit on the main level as well, currently used as a storage closet. Truly a one-of-a-kind unique and turn-key home with incredibly low monthlies for the size and location, the meeting of grand Uptown Townhouse style living in the perfect Downtown Condo Penthouse!

Little Italy | Manhattan

Quick Profile

It’s fitting that the neighborhood’s name is Little Italy because It’s been getting smaller for decades. The Italian immigrants that flooded New York City and built the vibrant ethnic enclave in the 1860s and 1880s eventually left for greener pastures, assimilating into other parts of the city or suburbs. The disappearance of Little Italy is a sad story as far as neighborhoods go, but it’s one that should be told.

Little Italy once spanned 50 square blocks and represented the biggest population of Italian immigrants in America. But in recent years, it’s been squeezed by the growth of Chinatown and SoHo and muscled from the rebranding of other neighborhoods like NoHo and NoLIta. In fact, NoLita was the culprit that cut the neighborhood in two. Little Italy’s boundaries may vary depending upon who you ask. Today it’s down to just a few blocks along Mulberry Street.

One of the best ways to experience Little Italy is through its food. Take your pick from mom-and-pop markets, meat and cheese shops, or authentic sit-down restaurants that offer the very best in Italian cuisine.

Every September (since 1926), the neighborhood hosts the Feast of San Gennaro, which celebrates the patron Saint of Naples Italy. 11 days of food, colorful parades, music performances, and more food. The aroma of zeppole and grilled sausage can be smelt for blocks. Try planning your visit around this festive time. It’s well worth it.
