Property Description for 506 Monroe Street

506 Monroe Street in Bedford Stuyvesant is one of a kind, located on a tree-lined block with beautiful facades. This 2-family home has 5-bedrooms, 3-bathrooms, a sprawling living room, and formal dining area. The beauty of brownstone living is the flexibility of room configurations. The home features wood floors, tons of original details throughout, an array of unique/classic light fixtures, chandeliers, and sconces which add to its charm. Starting with the ownerÂ’s duplex that takes up the parlor and garden level, the parlor has an extra-large living room with beautiful French doors that presently leads to a bedroom. Off the bedroom is an alcove that can be converted to a designer closet or home office. The open feel of this duplex is partly realized because of the 10ft ceiling heights, almost floor to ceiling windows, and the traditional glass French doors. Rounding off the parlor level is the first of two bathrooms. Below is the garden floor, and the second level of the duplex where there is another bedroom, a den, the second bathroom, and a unique eat-in kitchen. Right off the kitchen before entering the backyard is a mudroom. The backyard is perfect for that owner with a green thumb. Plant vegetables, peppers, and tomatoes and bask in a cool shade under the tree in the backyard. The yard is partially paved for a picnic table and entertaining. In additional to the ownerÂ’s duplex is a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom rental unit with just as many original details and has a newly renovated kitchen with modern tiles on the floor and backsplash. The kitchen is a gallery style that is completed with a new stainless-steel appliance. This 2-bedroom is on the top floor with no immediate obstruction as east and west exposer affords you tons of natural light. This rental unit is turnkey ready, so start collecting rent right away. 506 Monroe Street is in the epicenter of everything that excites the most enthusiastic foodie, with the Michelin starred LÂ’Antagoniste, Saraghina, Nana Ramen, Peaches Hot House, and countless other restaurants, chic bars and coffee shops nearby. Commuting is convenient with access to the Utica Ave (A/C), Kosciuszko (J), and Buses (B46 & B52). This is 506 Monroe in Bedstuy - with character oozing from every floor and every room, if that traditional brownstone lifestyle is what youÂ’re looking for, then look NO further.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
