Property Description for 111 West 11th Street, 2-RE

Perfectly situated at the crossroads of the West Village and Greenwich Village, 111 West 11th Street is a 19th century cooperative apartment building located on an historic gorgeous tree-lined street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. Residence 2RE is a pin-drop quiet one bedroom, one bath home that has been meticulously renovated. The renovation maintains and respects the character of the remarkable 1873 building while bringing it completely up-to-date, replacing all plumbing and electricity, and choosing new finishes and fixtures that marry the historic period to today's aesthetic.

This home centers around a comfortable living room with four east facing 6’ windows and the original wood burning fireplace that was recently restored, relined and a new hearthstone added. On one side of the living room is a large home office alcove and on the other is a spacious dining area adjacent to the kitchen.

Not a detail was missed in the thoughtfully designed open kitchen which boasts walnut cabinetry and shelving, a Bertazzoni gas range and microwave, Liebherr refrigerator, Bosch dishwasher, and stainless steel undermount sink with Hansgrohe faucet. The natural stone Taj Mahal Quartzite countertops perfectly complement the handcrafted Sonoma glass tile backsplash.

The serene corner bedroom with north and east facing 6’ windows look out onto treetops and gardens. This lovely bedroom features a large floor to ceiling built out closets and a custom built in walnut dresser with walnut with stone top.

The sumptuous bathroom is luxuriously appointed with Diana Royal Marble, Thomas O’Brien lighting fixtures, and Duravit sink and tub. The Robern medicine cabinet, built in shower niche, and walnut vanity provides ample storage.

Other notable details of this lovely home include 9.5’ ceiling heights, Burchette & Burchette 6” Chateau Oak hardwood floors, crown molding, low profile radiator heating, soundproofing in walls, floors and ceilings, built in wiring for sound system, recessed lighting with Lutron light system, Elfa systems in closets, and its own dedicated storage unit in the basement. A washer and dryer may be added with board approval.

Built in 1873, 111 West 11th Street is a designated landmark building and has been meticulously maintained. It is located on a picturesque tree-lined street with bluestone sidewalks and gorgeous neighboring townhouses. The renovated entry courtyard of this elegant six story building features a columned brownstone “porch” and stoop with the original wrought iron gate and fence. The building is located equidistant from Union Square and Washington Square parks and moments from bountiful restaurants, boutiques, multiple subway lines, and CitiBike docks. Pied a terres,, subletting with board approval and co-purchasing is permitted. Cats are allowed -- sorry, no dogs.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
