Property Description for 170 West 23rd Street, 3-R

170 W. 23rd Street, 3R is an extraordinary junior one bedroom (converted studio) condominium in the heart of Chelsea with a fantastic new chef's kitchen and a beautifully renovated bath. One of the most efficient floor plans I've worked with, this condo home packs a lot into a little, artfully utilizing every inch of space. You will not see a condo like this in this price range. Check out the 3D tour. There's room to create in the gorgeous, U-shaped kitchen with grey Cambria countertops, a generous island with a waterfall edge, a Bosch appliance package including a dishwasher and a full-sized refrigerator, Italian glass tile backsplash, an enormous amount of storage space, both under-counter and over-cabinet lighting, and arresting Tom Dickinson copper pendants. For ease of entertaining and to maximize space, the breakfast bar opens to the living area. You enter the bedroom through opaque, trackless, sliding glass doors that offer a more lofty feel. Brand new wood floors also integrate the separate spaces. The roomy bedroom faces west with a Juliet balcony and Citi-quiet windows over every opening - including the through-wall air conditioner. In addition to the deep foyer closet, two more closets, one converted into built-in cabinets and drawers, grace the area outside the bathroom. Just renovated with oversized Italian ceramic tile, the bathroom boasts chrome and glass accents and Kohler fixtures, including a touchless flush toilet. 170 West 23rd Street, 3R is located in a full-service condominium building with central laundry, storage, a bike room, three elevators, a live-in superintendent, and porters. It is within a block of nearly every westside subway and on the crosstown 23rd Street bus line. Retail abounds, with Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Bed Bath and Beyond, The Container Store, and more. The restaurants of Chelsea, Hudson Yards, and Meatpacking are walkable, as are the HighLine, West Chelsea Galleries, and the Hudson River Promenade. This condominium is suitable for first-time home buyers, pied a terre owners, and investors. Stated taxes are after Star/Condo Abatement.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
