Property Description for 901 Saint Marks Ave, GARDEN

New Year, New Home! This garden rental was redesigned as a 2.5 bedroom / 3.5 bathroom 2,000 duplex apartment. Trust me, you have never seen an apartment like this one! It checks EVERY box on your wishlist... oversized bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms, home office, spacious living and dining room, a third 100sqft spa bathroom, a half bathroom, an open custom closet, a laundry room, a windowed kitchen, double wall oven, viking cooktop, plus TWO private outdoor spaces. At 2,000sqft, this unit is the same size (or larger) than many single family homes. As you pass through the vestibule and enter your apartment, you'll find a custom closet alcove that has five sections plus a door to a separate walk in laundry closet with full size washer and dryer including steam clean and sanitizer features. Across from the closet you'll find a 100sqft spa bathroom with heated herringbone floors and towel racks. The rich turquoise and white bathroom is divided into wet/dry areas. The wet side has a six foot soaking tub plus separate double rainfall shower, while the dry side has double vanity and storage. Continue on into the apartment and laid out before you is a 700sf open plan living and dining area. At the far end of the room is a windowed U-shape kitchen with a double wall oven, a viking 6-burner cooktop, and stand alone 5' refrigerator and 5' freezer. For upper storage you have open shelving while the lower storage maximizes the space with lazy susan pullout shelves and storage drawers. You also have ample countertop prep space, built in wine rack and dishwasher. Climb the steps and you'll find a door that leads to a quaint 75sqft private courtyard. Perfect space and just big enough for grilling on the deck side and chilling on the grass side. Continue further up the steps and you'll find a marble half bathroom and a skylight hallway leading to the bedrooms. Down the hall and you will find the first en-suite bedroom. This bedroom is 15' x 20' and has two oversized windows with north and south exposures, hard wood floors, a king size bed plus sitting area as well as an 8 foot wall of closets. The large windowed bathroom has stone floor with a rainfall shower. Further down the hall is a small flight that takes you to a serene garden patio that's perfect for morning coffee or relaxing after a long day. Continue down to a two room suite with north and south exposures. The inner bedroom area fits a king size bed and has an ensuite bathroom with a traditional bathtub and shower. The outer room makes for a spacious sitting room or home office. This 2-family brownstone is located on a lovely tree lined block in historic Crown Heights North across from Brower Park. A few short blocks north or south on Kingston Ave puts you at the 3 train or the C train --both will have you in the city within 20 minutes. This area is percolating with activity and local crowd favorites include Basil, Meat, Sweet Brooklyn, Cafe Rue Dix, and Basquiat's Bottle. You must experience it in person to really capture the uniqueness of this home.

Crown Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Originally known as Crown Hill by the Lenape Indians that lived there, Crown Heights has evolved into a diverse neighborhood, occupied primarily by Hasidic Jews and one of the largest Caribbean populations to be found anywhere outside of the West Indies.

Head over to Nostrand Avenue, one of the main West Indian commercial areas in the neighborhood, which is lined with stores that have been in those exact same places for generations, providing their goods and services to area residents. Kingston Avenue has similar commercial activities that support the Jewish community, and Franklin Avenue shows the most signs of change and gentrification, with an ever-expanding mix of yoga studios, coffee shops, and organic grocery stores that serve the influx of young professionals. No matter which of these areas you visit, you will find an interesting mix of businesses that you wouldn’t normally picture as existing side-by-side. It is all part of the cultural diversity of Crown Heights.

The neighborhood is bisected, from east to west, by Eastern Parkway, which is a beautiful, 3-mile-long boulevard lined with mature trees. This leafy oasis was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famed designer of Central Park, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D. C.

You will find a mix of low-rise apartment buildings, large middle-class elevator buildings, brownstones, and some luxury buildings. Century-old architecture stands next to modern residential developments in a visually interesting mix of styles, much as the diversity of the residents exists. People who would not normally meet and mix are forging new pathways to cultural understanding by working, living, and playing together in the same neighborhood.
