Property Description for 80 John Street, 18-D

Please copy this URL for a 3D tour: https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=woVfx4xSWCr Immaculately designed with a modern aesthetic, no detail was overlooked in the meticulous renovation of 18D at the South Star. Located in the prime Financial District, this light-filled, two-bedroom home offers the best of downtown living. Upon entry, you are greeted by ten-foot-eight ceilings, hardwood floors, and northern-facing city views framed by three oversized windows. The generous living and dining areas are perfect for entertaining and feature custom built-ins and numerous storage closets. The attention to detail and the maximization of space is perhaps best demonstrated by the Scavolini kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, including a Sub-zero refrigerator, to complete the space. The master suite features a separate dressing room/home office with two large closets and an en-suite Porcelanosa bathroom. A second bedroom, Porcelanosa bathroom, and Electrolux washer/dryer complete the home. Built in 1927 and converted to residential condominiums in 2006, the South Star at 80 John Street is an Art Deco, pre-war building with a 24/7 concierge, live-in superintendent, laundry facilities per floor, and an on-site garage (additional fee). The South Star stands at the heart of Downtown and in the center of one of the greatest urban transformations. The Financial District is a transportation hub and has become a vibrant residential neighborhood, as well as a premier cultural, dining and retail destination. Additionally, we have a 745 SF alcove studio for sale on the tenth floor, which could be sold together with 18D for additional space in the building. *Assessment of $271.49/month in place. Financial District | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The Financial District (FiDi) today is a bit of a hybrid neighborhood, as the residential component continues to grow in an area that has been historically dominated by the financial and insurance industries. The residential experiment, which began more than two decades ago, continues to evolve in an area with a large concentration of older, large office buildings. Developers have taken to these aged buildings and have re-positioned them as residential properties. In turn, the public spaces, services and retail establishments needed for a thriving residential neighborhood have followed making this an important destination for city residents.

Since 2000, the residential population of the Financial District has nearly tripled in size from about 23,000 residents to more than 60,000 inhabitants. Many of the residential pioneers to FiDi were people attracted to the lower rents in the neighborhood, particularly the post-collegiate crowd. While the millennials still maintain a large footprint here, there are plenty of families that now consider the Wall Street area home.

Many of those that live in the Financial District walk to work. If you reside here and need to commute elsewhere, the transportation from here is about as good as it gets. Express trains can take you to Midtown, either east or west, in twenty minutes. Brooklyn is but a single subway stop away. There are also ferries across to Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
