Property Description for 23 Waverly Place, 6-BC

A one of a kind home. A one of a kind building. A one of a kind address. The superlatives come naturally to this top-floor, exquisitely crafted, one-bedroom with a loft-like feel in the historic Waverly Mews. Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, it's a stone's throw from Washington Square Park. Two homes were combined to create the enchanting and livable floor plan. At approximately 1,000 square feet, the space boasts 12-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, and an abundance of huge windows. Currently configured as a one-bedroom, it could easily be converted to add a second bedroom, home office, or den. Entering the apartment through a long, gracious, art-adorned foyer, you arrive at the magnificently proportioned living room. The built-in bookshelves and cabinets, soaring ceilings, and oversized windows imbue a sense of grandeur and tranquility to this unique gem. A windowed office is located discretely off the living room. The massive kitchen is every cook's dream with marble countertops, top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, an extra-large custom center island, and pantry. The adjacent dining area is spacious for entertaining family and friends as well as cozy for an intimate meal. The airy, double-windowed, private, and very quiet primary bedroom can accommodate a king-size bed, end tables, and more. The generous closets are complemented by flush built-in floor-to-ceiling storage galore. Both full bathrooms are strikingly renovated; the primary bathroom features luxurious Waterworks Carrara marble tile and chrome fixtures. Waverly Mews was transformed from its long ago origins as a hat factory in the 1890s to its handsome residential grace today. Stepping through its stately iron gates and vaulted entry, you enter the oasis of a Zen-like landscaped courtyard, with seating (and Wi-Fi) for residents. The Waverly Mews roof deck is among the prettiest downtown, and no apartment in the building has closer access to this stunning sanctuary with omnidirectional views. Relax, unwind, or entertain amid the beautiful landscaping and teak furniture. The building also features laundry rooms on each floor, and a live-in resident manager and full-time porter who can accept packages. A short walk takes you to Washington Square Park with everything it has to offer, including its terrific small and large dog runs- this is a pet-loving co-op. Multiple transportation options are close by. Come see why this coveted piece of Greenwich Village is where everyone wants to be. Make it your home sweet home.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
