Property Description for 170 Second Ave, 5-CD

Create a stunning three to four-bedroom home (with lovely views to the north) in the heart of the Village by combining these two adjacent residences. 5C and 5D are located in a striking Art Deco full-service building at Eleventh Street and Second Avenue. Thirteen large windows have north and east exposures and feature treetop views onto 11th Street and beyond to the Empire State Building and the ConEd Clock Tower.

The one-bedroom, C line residence can be transformed into a spectacular primary retreat and den or fourth bedroom, with the D line providing the heart of the home with the eat-in kitchen, large living room, and two additional bedrooms. This extraordinary combination offers a plethora of design opportunities. Please see a proposed floor plan that has been previously approved in the building.

170 Second Avenue is a majestic prewar jewel. It features a beautiful lobby with terrazzo floors, brass chandeliers, Art Deco murals and a mahogany-paneled elevator and is impeccably maintained by a wonderful full-time staff, including a live-in superintendent, porters, and 24-hour elevator attendant. Amenities include central laundry, storage and bike rooms. The building is in the heart of one of Manhattan’s most vibrant neighborhoods -- near fantastic restaurants, Union Square, Astor Place, Tompkins Square Park and public transportation.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
