Property Description for 415 East 52nd Street, 10-KC

The antidote for Terrace Envy! Heed the call of the Great Outdoors, where bigger IS better!! Imagine entertaining and creating a lifetime of memories on your sun-drenched, west facing private terrace. Or napping and lounging privately. Or reading and working under the penthouse style awning. The options are all enticing, no? Of course, the terrace comes with an amazing apartment of grand scale. The current owners fell in love with the layout and oversized rooms. When they aren't picnicking on the terrace, they have the most elegant sit-down dinners for up to a dozen, as well as casual gatherings and large affairs, both indoors and outdoors. They appreciate the fireplace for those cold, "bundle up" days when they cannot use the terrace. They also love that the living room is partially open to the kitchen and has floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows. The gracious foyer makes a strong welcoming statement. The size of the bedrooms and their configuration enable them to easily accommodate guests, as well as work from home with privacy. The kitchen, the heart of any home, is large and brilliantly designed and is ideal for perfecting cooking and entertaining skills - particularly with the double oven, wine cooler and enormous countertops. The second bathroom has been updated; the primary bedroom has wall-to-wall floor-to-ceiling windows like the living room and the ensuite has a bidet; the closet space is extraordinary; the full-sized washer dryer is a huge bonus. City views and gorgeous light complete the home's pretty picture. It just feels --- right! The Sutton House is a pet-friendly building that features a full-time doorman, bike room, laundry room, garage parking, state-of-the-art fitness center, children's playroom and storage. In addition to their gardening plots, the landscaped roof decks offer gorgeous panoramic views of the Midtown skyline and the East River. Nestled in the not-yet-discovered hidden gem of Sutton Place / Beekman Place, whose tranquility contrasts with the hustle and bustle of Midtown, the neighborhood could not be more convenient. With the area's multitude of restaurants, markets, shops and services, and its access to public transportation and parks, this is an ideal spot to plant roots and to call home.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
