Property Description for 81 Cooper Street

A Brooklyn dream home graced with high-end finishes and an abundance of charm, this gut-renovated two-family townhouse is a portrait of contemporary Bushwick luxury. Having just completed a renovation in 2021, every element of the home has been thoughtfully attended to and upgraded, every detail chosen to complement and enhance the modern lifestyle.

81 Cooper Street has been featured in the New York Times and is nestled on a quiet, tree-lined street in Bushwick. Features include a gorgeous redbrick facade, oversized Sierra Pacific H3 casement windows with Bali cellular shades, beautiful white oak floors, fully insulated triple-layer party walls, a Lorex 4K security camera with on-site file storage, a stunning owner’s duplex, a garden rental, independent Navien combi boilers, and an incredible backyard accessible from both units and adorned with native New York flora, a wooden deck, new fencing, and a built-in pergola.

The owner’s duplex has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a spacious rear balcony. The lower level is a floor-through open-concept living room, dining room, and kitchen saturated with natural light. The kitchen leads out onto the balcony and is equipped with an eat-in island, custom maple and oak Kraftmaid cabinets, brass hardware, honed Carrara marble countertops, white penny round backsplashes, and a suite of high-end fully-integrated appliances from Wolf, Miele, and Mastercool. Completing the lower level are a pristine powder room with heated marble flooring and a laundry closet with an LG washer/dryer.

Up a sky lit staircase with built-in under-stair storage, the second level contains a trio of bright bedrooms and a pair of immaculate bathrooms with electric radiant heated marble floors and Toto toilets. The primary bedroom possesses a custom Elfa walk-in closet and a private en-suite with Watermark fixtures, a mahogany vanity, a recessed Kohler medicine cabinet, and a two-person walk-in shower with thermostatic valves and dual shower wands. The second and third bedrooms share access to a second full bathroom with Kohler fixtures and a deep Kohler tub with a rain showerhead. Multi-zone hydronic radiant heated floors run throughout and each room has an LG split-system A/C.

The garden duplex has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, equipped with central heating/air and a Samsung washer/dryer. The lower level is a huge finished cellar with marble-look porcelain floors and the upper level is split between an open-concept living room, dining room, and kitchen and a spacious bedroom. The kitchen has maple Kraftmaid cabinets, sleek quartz countertops, a farmhouse sink, and high-end stainless steel appliances from Viking and Bosch. The bedroom leads out into the backyard and has easy access to a pristine bathroom with black marble radiant heated floors and a steam shower from Mr. Steam.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
