Property Description for 205 Water Street, 4-H

2 Real Bedrooms and Views at the 205 WATER STREET CONDOMINIUM in DUMBO!

It is truly unique to have ground up new construction honor the history of a neighborhood as tastefully as the 205 Water Condominium honors DUMBO. And this well-appointed 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment checks all of the boxes.

A proper entry foyer guides you into a loft-like living/dining space with light streaming in from two exposures boasting views of the East River and the Empire State building! All through show stopping black metal framed windows of double layered insulated glass that provide energy efficiency and pin drop quiet.

The bespoke feel of this special apartment is enhanced by a wall of beautiful custom built-ins in the living room, and the open living/dining space and large kitchen with abundant counter and cabinet space creates the ideal setting for entertaining. Additional kitchen features include polished Luce de Luna Quartzite counter tops, a Thermador range, Insinkerater garbage disposal, wine refrigerator, Bosch dishwasher and a 30" Sub Zero refrigerator.

Views are also showcased in both bedrooms! Tucked at the far end of the apartment is a beautiful and bright primary bedroom suite with a large, fully outfitted walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom featuring Carrera marble countertops, Italian porcelain tiles, a rain shower and a built in linen closet. The neighboring second bedroom is amply sized with generous closet space and a nearby spa-like second bathroom with a deep soaking tub. All complete with a large laundry closet housing a Bosch washer/dryer.

Building features include a full-time attended lobby, live-in super, state of the art fitness room (with a Peloton bike!), bicycle storage, a common media lounge and two common outdoor spaces. 205 WATER was ground up new construction (fully completed in 2012), and was uniquely designed for sustainability and achieved the prestigious LEED Gold Certification.

An on-site deeded parking space and a storage unit are also available for separate purchase!

Dumbo | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

DUMBO, which is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, used to be a lively industrial and manufacturing zone, full of large factories and warehouses. These buildings have now been converted into expansive lofts, theaters, galleries, and office spaces for start-up companies. These larger residential spaces are attractive to families and creative artists and writers who need space to dream and create.

DUMBO was named in 1978 as a sort of reverse marketing ploy to try to keep people from swarming into the area, attracted by the quaint tree-lined streets, elegant historic brownstones, large lofts, and views of Lower Manhattan. It was felt that this influx of people would change the nature of the neighborhood. It was hoped that by giving the area a ridiculous name, nobody would want to live there.

Many of the neighborhood’s bars, hotels, and restaurants capitalize on the stunning waterfront views and the Manhattan skyline in the background. Interesting and fun cultural events are held under and around the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges that connect DUMBO to Manhattan. One of these is the annual Oktoberfest.

With beautiful vignettes of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges being framed around every corner, DUMBO provides residents and tourists with charming, and often surprising, views. Because the neighborhood is eminently walkable and filled with unique shops, it feels like a small town on the edge of a major urban waterfront. Once people move to DUMBO, they tend to stay and become involved in the community.
