Property Description for 455 East 51st Street, 2-C

A SECRET SUNSHINY STUNNER...

FACING A SECRET GARDEN...

ON A SECRET CUL-DE-SAC…

JUST BEYOND A SECRET GATE...

(FORMER 2BR - NOW A LOFTY RENOVATED, RE-INVENTED JUMBO 1BR w/WORKING FIREPLACE & CENTRAL AC)

Pristinely situated in the famously private and well served Beekman Terrace (a handsome 1924 building coveted for its discreet riverfront location off of a quiet cul-de-sac), this garden facing, sun-splashed stunner is a fantastic find for sure. Its renovation and transformation was just finished, and the beautiful result shines brightly.

Originally a well-scaled 2-bedroom residence, this handsome, South-facing, L-shaped residence has been re-invented and re-envisioned as an enormous 1-bedroom home (please see alternate floor plan) with sprawling, open-concept living and dining rooms, and with new everything: new plumbing, new electric, new kitchen, new bath, new closets, new layout, new floors, new mouldings, central ac and an entirely new vibe.

In the Great Room, there is an Italian Marble mantle on the wood-burning fireplace, and 6 oversized, sunshiny windows facing the coveted building garden. With an immense run of 42 feet, this versatile living space is ideal for entertaining and stretching out, working from home, and for all of life's growing needs (please see alternate floor plan).

The designer kitchen has beautiful natural light courtesy of two West facing windows onto the building garden. This gorgeous space offers ample marble counters, custom cabinetry, and top shelf appliances (including wine fridge).

A classic arch frames the welcoming marble mosaic foyer, and this feel-good home's closets are generously scaled -- with a walk-in closet by the foyer. The bedroom is peaceful and bright, with two big North-facing windows, and a generous wall of closets. The separate windowed bath is marble, has a beautiful vanity, and boasts a big step in shower. Custom mouldings, high ceilings, new Oak floors, and central ac round-out this refreshed, renewed, re-invented classic, and make this big beauty a stand-out for all the best reasons.

Sweetly positioned afront Beekman Terrace's enchanting "secret garden" -- just beyond the building's private gate house -- this easy-to-love home enjoys private storage, and easy access to the pet-friendly building's river-view roof deck and the well-run building's fitness and laundry rooms. Within a stone's throw are the East River Promenade, the E/F/M trains, and prime access to every area cultural, dining, and shopping destination -- not to mention the benefits of a very mindful neighborhood association and private security.

Here is one of the best kept secrets in Manhattan: Your secret sunshiny stunner...facing a secret garden...on a secret cul-de-sac...just beyond a secret gate...awaits.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
