Property Description for 700 Halsey Street

700 Halsey Street is an historic 19th century Brownstone in the Stuyvesant Heights district of Bedford Stuyvesant Turnkey, with vintage details and modern upgrades this 3-story, 2-family home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a surplus of charm. The owners' duplex occupies the garden and parlor floors, with beautiful hardwood floors throughout and tile in the kitchen. The lower level is inviting and open with excellent natural light accented by recessed lighting – you will feel right at home from the moment you enter. There are intricate built-ins and three original mantels/fireplaces throughout the owner's suite. The kitchen is newly renovated with stone countertops and an L shaped island that can accommodate three people. Samsung stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher and a tucked away vented washer and dryer will make cooking and cleaning a breeze! The kitchen flows directly into the backyard, a manicured green oasis filed with shrubs, plants and flowers – a delight if you love entertaining. Rounding out this level is a newly renovated primary bathroom with a separate shower stall and soaking tub. The parlor level has three bedrooms with a flex fourth that can be converted to a huge dressing room, walk-in closet or sitting room. There is also a half bath on this level and traditionally high ceilings, making this floor feel spacious and airy. You can help cover your mortgage with the floor-thru rental on the top floor. There is an oversized bedroom with an original mantel, walk-in closet, office/guest room and a large living room/dining room featuring a second mantel. The bedroom faces south so there is plenty of natural light - you will have no problem finding a great tenant! The cellar is finished, with updated mechanicals, including a virtually new 50-gallon hot water tank. 700 Halsey Street is located just 2 blocks away from Michelin starred L'Antagoniste and plenty of other neighborhood hotspots such as Peaches Hot House, Greedi Vegan, Casablanca's, Mama Fox's, and Halsey's Trader Market which specializes in organic produce. There is Saratoga Park, a popular spot for bicycle riding and dog walking just 3 blocks away. 700 Halsey affords you an easy commute to Manhattan - the A/C trains are at Utica Avenue and J/Z trains are at Halsey Street, both a short distance from the house. Turnkey, convenient to transportation and priced just right – now you can own a Brownstone in Brooklyn’s hottest neighborhood!

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
