The longer version: this bright spacious, 1 bedroom duplex unit with COVERED, deeded parking and a private patio has abundant room to live, work and play! Welcome home to an open plan kitchen with tons of storage and ample counter space, and a living and dining room with floor to 10' ceiling windows, central air and rich hardwood floors. The first level has a large bedroom, walk in closet and a full bathroom with a soaking tub. Step out on to a convenient deck for your morning coffee and continue down to a large patio just waiting to be adorned with planters. Back indoors, a wide staircase takes you down to the second level, also with 10' ceilings, to an enormous multi-purpose space in the English basement, currently set up as a comfortable lounge plus an office, but with the potential for multiple uses. On this level, there's a half bath, ample closets including a massive under-the-stairs storage area and a washer/dryer plus access to the building's lower level and parking space. This pet friendly building has a sparkling clean foyer with a Virtual Doorman, package room, cold storage including a freezer, a playroom and media viewing room (available soon we all hope) as well as a wonderful roof deck with iconic Manhattan views. There's a rare and wonderful tax abatement, so the current taxes are only $22 a month! If you need a swimming pool, it's a block away at the YMCA. The location is super convenient with a well-stocked supermarket on the next block, easy access to the A/C at Nostrand Avenue and the G at Bedford/Nostrand as well as many buses. Get your hand-hewn pottery fix at Art Shack, learn to sew at Soul Collections, get your vinyl records at Mixtape and your sage at the Holistic Home Company. Come and live your best life at 315 Gates! (*Please note, while potentially this can be used as a 2-bedroom, this property's legal description in the offering plan is as a one-bedroom with a lower recreation room)

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
