Property Description for 2 Beekman Place, 6-B

Stunning and serene, Apartment 6B at the prestigious 2 Beekman Place is a picture-perfect jewel in one of Manhattan's best-loved neighborhoods. Since 1932, a fortunate few have called this art deco treasure designed by Rosario Candela home. 6B is legally a one bedroom, but perhaps better described for the market as a large alcove studio with separate sleeping area, foyer, kitchen and dressing room. The gracious entry foyer has two generous-sized closets, and branches off to the sleek galley kitchen and the spacious living room, illuminated with eastern light. The kitchen has high end appliances by Miele, Wolf and SubZero, perfectly sized for the space. The bedroom also faces east and features the same tilt-and-turn style windows as the living room. A separate dressing room provides excellent storage space and leads to a large marble bath. The apartment also comes with its own private storage unit.

Stepping into 2 Beekman Place transports you to old New York. With full time door staff, an attended elevator, and resident manager, this is truly a full service building. There is a laundry room, bicycle storage, and a spectacular roof deck with iconic views. Beekman Place offers a calm respite to the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Enjoy all the convenience of New York's shopping, entertainment, dining and recreation, and then unwind in the peaceful enclave of 2 Beekman Place. Pets are permitted with board approval.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
