Property Description for 147 Stuyvesant Ave, 1

Entry into this spacious duplex apartment is through the parlor level, to be received by an open living and dining space with oak hardwood floors and a complimentary color palette. Once inside, pass through the living space into the modern and updated kitchen complete with custom wood cabinetry and a center island with storage and dining capacity at the island counter. A powder room is accessible from the kitchen on the parlor floor for added convenience. At the end of the spacious kitchen a door opens outside to a deck and there are steps down to the landscaped backyard. In the downstairs is the Primary suite and 2nd bedroom, with two full bathrooms on this level. There is a large laundry room/mud room which leads to the private garden. The bathrooms are tastefully embellished with tile and marble for the walls and floors. In addition, there is a fully finished basement ready for many possible uses such as a game room, play room or extra office space. Bedford Stuyvesant is a largely residential neighborhood known for its rich history and rows of architecturally stunning brownstones and limestones in the Romanesque Revival, Renaissance Revival and Queen Anne styles. Georges-Andre Vintage Cafe, Angela's, Saraghinas, Peaches Hothouse, and Beso are some delicious local favorites. Central to a number of playgrounds and parks, including Herbert Von King Park, one of the first parks built in Brooklyn, designed by Olmstead & Vaux, who also designed Prospect Park. Conveniently located to the J/Z trains or the A/C train at Utica Avenue.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
