Property Description for 79 Laight Street, 1-B

Modern minimalism meets authentic loft at this spacious and beautifully renovated home at the historic Sugar Warehouse Condominium. Located on a cobblestone street in prime waterfront Tribeca, this 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath with its own exclusive entry is a must-see. The corner unit with 15 original steel casement windows and doors has north and west exposures offering views of the Hudson River, the Hudson River Park, and is awash in beautiful light. No detail was overlooked in the gut renovation including engineered soundproof walls and exterior-grade double-laminated interior windows. The meticulous designer renovation honors traditional loft living with details such as open-plan living spaces that can be sectioned off with 4’-wide hidden pocket doors with custom hardware. The focus on white and clean lines creates a wonderful ambiance throughout this home. The best of both worlds, the private entrance gives this home a townhouse feel but without the maintenance (and with condo amenities!) Enter the great room and you will feel the depth of the space, an ideal home for entertaining. The chef’s kitchen is the heart of this home and features wall-size sheets of Calacatta Gold marble and a roomy 10’ x 4’ island to eat and gather around. High-end appliances include Miele digital cooktop and convection oven; Liebherr fully-integrated french-door refrigerator with ice maker; Bosch fully-integrated ultra-low decibel dishwasher; and plenty of storage. The primary bedroom wing is private and pin-drop quiet and includes an open walk-through closet lined with retail-grade Rakks shelving systems. An adjacent home office could be an extension of the primary suite, or a third bedroom. The second bedroom is on the opposite end of the apartment and features French doors that fold into the walls for a seamless look and a large floor-to-ceiling window that overlooks the river. Each en-suite bath features Calacatta Gold marble, large overhead rainshowers, and custom Corian integrated sinks. Additional details include Vola sink and shower fixtures; Duravit wall-hung toilets; custom waterproof plaster shower walls; discretely hidden outlets; and ambient lighting. Ann Sacks tile flooring is found throughout this home. Other perks include high ceilings (almost 11’); Nest wifi thermostats (4 HVAC zones); and LED lighting. There is a laundry room with an exterior-vented dryer and in-wall plumbing for a future sink. A large basement storage unit is included with the sale. This landmarked pre-war condominium is one of the few full-service buildings in Tribeca. The building offers 24-hour concierge, fitness room, playroom, roof deck, bike storage, touchless key-fob entry doors, and a live-in super. Located directly across the street from the Hudson River Park, it is in close proximity to top restaurants, transportation, as well as Soho and the West Village.

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
