Property Description for 25 Plaza Street West, 2-M

Entering residence 2M, the spacious foyer boasts high ceilings, built-in bookshelf and two large closets. The massive sunken living room features west-facing windows which rake in hours of afternoon sunlight. Arched ceilings, angled hallways and hardwood floors coalesce in a way that is timeless and refreshingly dynamic.

The windowed kitchen is a chefs delight. Stainless steel appliances include Fisher Paykel refrigerator, GE Profile dishwasher, wine fridge, full sized oven and microwave. The stone countertop stretches for miles and the cabinets above are outfitted with lighting beneath.

The bedroom can accommodate a king-sized bed with plenty of space for furniture and seating. Morning sunlight pours in through the east-facing windows which look out on the tree-filled berm along Plaza Street West. In addition to a large closet within the room, there are two floor-to-ceiling closets in the hallway leading to the bathroom.

The windowed bathroom features a full-sized tub with sliding glass door. There is storage space behind the vanity as well as below the sink and there is a built-in hamper behind the door.

The middle room of the apartment is currently used as a small library. Walls can be knocked down and closets removed to open the space and create a dedicated dining area - board approval required of course.

Built in 1941, The Berkeley is a six-story elevator building with two roof decks: one facing the arch at Grand Army Plaza and the other boasting sweeping views of Brooklyn, Manhattan and New York Harbor in between. Sunsets are stunning and 4th of July fireworks are resplendent.

The building is pet-friendly and allows for co-purchasing, guarantors and pied-a-terres. The lobby and hallways were recently renovated and the basement features a common laundry room as well as bike storage accessible via the elevators. Additionally, there is a storage room and parking garage within the building - note there is a waitlist for both. There is a live-in super as well as part-time doorman: 8am to midnight, seven days a week.

The 2/3 train is at the end of the block with the B/Q trains just beyond on Flatbush. Atlantic Barclays is down the hill (go Nets!) and houses myriad subways as well as the LIRR to get out of town. There is a wealth of nearby restaurants and cafes on 7th Ave and on Flatbush. There is an even wider selection of food and shopping on Vanderbilt and Washington in neighboring Prospect Heights. Union Market is around the corner along with Soul Cycle, an enormous Crunch gym and multiple pharmacies.

Grand Army Plaza plays host to a spectacular Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. Just beyond, the Brooklyn Library, Botanic Garden and Brooklyn Museum line Eastern Parkway. The Park Slope Food Coop is two blocks down on Union and saving the best for last, Prospect Park serves as a respite from the hustle of city life.

Park Slope | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Boasting beautiful tree-lined streets, brownstones and a range of activities for all age groups, Park Slope is consistently ranked as one of New York’s most desirable neighborhoods. Filled with lush parks and greenery, the neighborhood is also known for its rare combination of excellent public schools, award-winning restaurants, nightlife, small independently owned businesses and community gardens.

Situated at the western slope of Prospect Park, the neighborhood is divided into different sections: North Slope, Center Slope and South Slope. Depending on who you ask, of course, the definitions of where these borders end and begin may vary (is the divide between North and Center deemed Union Street, Garfield Place, 1st Street or 3rd Street? The one between Center and South 6th Street, 9th Street, 11th Street or 15th Street?).

Regardless of what part of the Slope you find yourself on, there’s no shortage of architectural beauty. From row houses to brownstones to mansions, the idyllic setting of the neighborhood is further enhanced by its Romanesque and Renaissance Revival styles. Case in point of this is also two of the area’s most well-known churches, Park Slope United Methodist Church and Saint Augustine Roman Catholic Church.

Revered for its family-friendly appeal, Park Slope is often regarded as one of the best places to raise a family in New York City. That said, it doesn’t mean that parents don’t know how to have a good time... a slew of bars constantly opening in the neighborhood ranging from the high-end cocktail saloon to the dive (well, by Park Slope standards, anyway).
