Property Description for 284 Fifth Ave, 5-F

His-Story Welcome to Apt. 5F at the Wilbraham … A stylishly restored, historic bachelor apartment flat with a separate, sexy den, convenient Pullman kitchen, and spacious bath with huge soaking tub. The beautifully restored main parlor is framed with 10’ windows facing iconic Fifth Avenue, gleaming hardwood floors, and soaring 11’+ ceilings with original molding beautifully intact. The perfect perch to watch a parade heading down Fifth Avenue or take in the fascinating architecture and streetscape of this emerging and engaging neighborhood. The Wilbraham, a NYC landmarked cooperative, was constructed “for professional men of means” as a bachelor apartment hotel in 1890. The atmospheric entrance and lobby were fully restored in 2019 and will transport you back in time whenever you enter or exit this special property. This unique, pet-friendly coop has a condo-like subletting policy and allows co-purchasing, guarantors, and purchases in an LLC or trust. A smartphone-compatible intercom system allows residents to buzz in guests and deliveries remotely. Additional storage, bike storage, a beautifully restored package room, and laundry facilities round out this lovely picture. Located in the very heart of booming NoMad with its myriad of hip restaurants, shops, and markets, this historic home is only steps to Madison Square Park, Penn Station, the LIRR, NJ Path, and the B, D, F, M, N, Q, R, W, 1, 2 & 3 lines. A rare opportunity for those who appreciate history, art, and design. Open house by appt only …

NoMad | Manhattan

Quick Profile

NoMad, North of Madison Square Park, is a rectangular swath of land that is bordered by East 25th Street to the south, East 29th Street to the north, Sixth Avenue to the west, and depending who you ask, Madison or Lexington Avenue to the East. It’s had its acronymed name for over two decades but not every New Yorker calls the neighborhood NoMad.

Historic architecture, trendy hotels and restaurants and high-priced apartments - NoMad wasn’t always the coveted neighborhood that it is today. It’s gone through many transformations over the years. Including a red light district known as the Tenderloin in the 1880’s. It was a popular shopping destination and a place where high society held court in the mid 19th century. It was part of New York City’s Silicon Alley in the 1990’s.

As of lately, world class chefs and restaurants have moved into NoMad. It’s tied with Midtown Manhattan for having the most Michelin stars (six stars to date). Besides NoMad’s architecture, nightlife, and restaurants, we can’t forget the added perk of being close to other great neighborhoods and cultural institutions. NoMad’s central location makes it easier to get just about anywhere in the city. You can walk to Chelsea, West Village, Union Square or Grand Central Station in no time at all. The N, R, 1, 6, B, Q, F, and M are very close or just a few blocks away. Penn Station is also within walking distance.
