Property Description for 387 Classon Ave

This beautifully renovated two-family building offers gorgeous interiors and fantastic outdoor space near the border of Bedford-Stuyvesant and Clinton Hill. Comprised of a two-bedroom, two-and-half-bathroom upper duplex and a lower one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bathroom apartment, this property is ideal for investors or homeowners seeking an income-generating unit or multigenerational accommodations. The 1,418-square-foot upper duplex welcomes you with a classic high stoop and arched vestibule entry. Inside, the bright living room invites you to relax and unwind alongside extra-tall windows, soaring ceilings and wide-plank hardwood floors. The wood-burning fireplace framed by an original mirrored mantelpiece and sconces adds a warm focal point, and the adjacent powder room boasts lovely tilework. Ahead, the stunning eat-in kitchen dazzles with wood and lacquer cabinetry, a center island/breakfast bar, quartz counters and stainless steel appliances, including a gas range, French door refrigerator, dishwasher and built-in microwave. There's plenty of room for a dining area, or step outside to enjoy al fresco meals on the large deck overlooking the expansive garden below. Head up the skylit staircase to discover the bright owner's suite featuring treetop western views and a gorgeous en suite marble bathroom. The second bedroom offers garden outlooks and easy access to the hall bathroom that's finished in floor-to-ceiling subway tile. A laundry closet with a stacked Electrolux washer-dryer completes the smart layout. In the garden apartment, a large living room is flanked by a galley kitchen with gray Shaker cabinets and stainless steel appliances. The full bathroom includes a large tub/shower, and the sunny bedroom opens directly to the backyard. Two closets are found on the main level, while the basement includes a washer-dryer, powder room and cellar space. Mini-split HVAC units add year-round comfort to this handsome 1899 brick building. This fine residence is at the heart of vibrant Brooklyn living with favorite local dining spots Speedy Romeo, Clementine Bakery, Mekelberg's and Peaches Shrimp & Crab right outside your door. Abundant playgrounds dot the area, and Herbert Von King and Fort Greene parks and the lovely Pratt Institute Sculpture Garden provide lovely outdoor space. Atlantic Terminal, Barclays Center and BAM are close by, and G and A/C trains, excellent bus service and CitiBikes put the rest of the city within easy reach.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
