Property Description for 17A Suydam Place, DUPLEX

OUTDOOR LIVING SO COOL THAT YOU MAY NEVER GO INSIDE! Entering this Duplex, you'll realize right away that this was designed as the Owner's home. The first floor of this 4 bedroom / 3 bathroom apartment is wide open with high ceilings and hardwood floors. The living room has a fireplace with television mounted above, followed by a dining room big enough for a table for 8, followed by an open plan kitchen with island seating and under counter wine fridge. The kitchen itself has stainless steel appliances including dishwasher and microwave. Opposite the kitchen you have two large walk in closets and an alcove for a small desk if desired. Beyond the kitchen you'll find a full bathroom and the first of four king size bedrooms. Continue on through the back door of this bedroom and you'll find a large deck that spans the width of the home with alfresco dining for 8 and overlooking the almost 70 foot deep backyard. Head down the steps of the deck and to your right you'll find a full outdoor stone top built in custom kitchen. Along the perimeter of the garden is a low seating wall and raised flower beds. At the back of the garden you'll find a gazebo with circular seating, a fire pit, and a stone bar with refrigerator and additional built-in seating. This garden was designed for entertaining...and once your friends and family see this, you'll always be the host with the most! Back inside, head upstairs to the large master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, wall of windows, and built-in double custom closets. In the sunny skylit hallway, you'll find the third bathroom, a deep storage closet, as well as a laundry closet. Bedroom #3 is bathed in sunlight from an overhead skylight and has a large double closet. Bedroom #4, at the front of the house, can also fit a king size bed and has a large closet. The upper floor also has high ceilings and hardwood floors. Located in Bedford Stuyvesant on the border of Stuyvesant Heights and Weeksville, 17A Suydam Place is a small residential block between Herkimer St and Atlantic Ave. Your commute to the city is easy since you're just three blocks to the Fulton St & Utica Ave A/C train station. And when your tire from cooking in your indoor and outdoor kitchens you can head over to neighborhood hotspots like Chez Oskar, Peaches, Uncorked, Saraghina, Beso, and Greedi Vegan. Do yourself a favor and take a look...you (and your friends) will be glad you did.

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
