Property Description for 135 Eastern Parkway, 8-D

Perched above the Brooklyn rooftops sits this exquisitely renovated 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom coop in premier, full service Turner Towers. With views of the entire island of Manhattan and miles of open sky, sunshine fills each room. The 2017 full renovation brought in a brand new, top-of-the-line kitchen, new flooring, endless custom storage and enlarged windows. All of this lies across the street from the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Library and, of course, Prospect Park as well as the 2 and 3 trains. When you enter the apartment you are greeted by a custom-built foyer with a large coat closet and wall of storage cabinets. On your right is the open kitchen, a true showstopper. It has Neolith Calacatta countertops, custom cabinetry, pantry and high end appliances, including a Thermador range with an exterior venting hood, hidden Thermador dishwasher, a Liebherr refrigerator, and a vented Samsung washer and dryer tucked away from the kitchen. The open living and dining area offers space to entertain. Two large windows let eastern light stream in all day long and since the apartment is in the back of the building, there is minimal noise. Currently configured with the living area by the windows with space for all of your living room furniture. The dining area can accommodate an 8 seat dining table. And hidden behind two closet doors off the dining room is a custom-built bar with a 20 bottle Perlick wine fridge, lighting, Neolith Calacatta countertops and glass shelving. The first bedroom is located off of the living room and has two large windows. Currently set up as a kids room, it would easily fit a queen sized bed and all accompanying bedroom furniture. The closet is large and is fully custom built with hanging and shelf storage. With the bedroom’s generous proportions, the current owners cleverly designed a way to create a bonus space off of the hallway. This space has a glass transom for natural light to pass, and is large enough to be used as a home office or nursery. Further down the hallway is the primary bedroom, with never ending views of the NYC skylines. The bedroom is king sized, and leaves nothing to be desired for storage. There are a total of three closets, all of them large and custom built for all of your clothing storage needs. There are two bathrooms in the apartment. The first has a stall shower, wall mounted vanity, beautiful penny tiling, Toto toilet and Grohe fixtures. There is a class enclosure for the shower and a fogged window for natural lighting. The primary bathroom has a Bain Ultra shower and tub combination, a Scarabeo sink with a wooden vanity that includes plenty of storage, another Toto toilet, Grohe fixtures and a window for natural light. Turner Towers is a 186 unit co-op building, originally built in 1926 and located directly across Eastern Parkway from Brooklyn’s most important cultural destinations: The Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and the 2 and 3 trans are right across the street. Turner Towers is a full service building with a 24-hour doorman, live-in super, basement storage(currently waitlisted), bike storage, a gym and a community room.

Prospect Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Prospect Heights is a small residential neighborhood surrounded by big attractions. It’s rich in culture and offers the perfect blend of old Brooklyn charm and modern-day hipness.

Residents of this tight-knit community include young professionals, families and long-time residents. It’s a walkers paradise - just steps from Prospect Park and a short walking distance to neighborhoods like Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Green and Clinton. You’re close to culture too. Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Library, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Barclays Center are all nearby.

Prospect Heights is bordered by Flatbush Avenue to the west, Washington Avenue to the east, Atlantic Avenue and Dean Street to the north and Eastern Parkway to the south.

Prospect Heights, like many areas of New York City, was first inhabited by indigenous tribes and eventually settled by the Dutch and turned into farmland.

A significant part of the Revolutionary War was fought in Prospect Heights and the surrounding areas. Known as the Battle of Brooklyn, it was the first military engagement following the Declaration of Independence. Things didn’t go so well for American forces so they retreated and the British occupied Manhattan for several years after the Battle of Brooklyn.

In 1867, the opening of Prospect Park caused major housing growth in Prospect Heights. The middle-class neighborhood was soon populated by Jewish, Italian, and Irish workers. Many of which were shop-owners or employed as laborers in nearby factories.

Housing in Prospect Heights includes single-family row houses, historic townhouses, co-ops, and new luxury condos. The median listed price for a 1-bedroom in Prospect Heights is $680,000 with an average price per square foot is $944.

The neighborhood's commercial artery runs along Vanderbilt Avenue and Washington Avenue. The variety of businesses adds to the charm of the neighborhood. They include bars, pubs, restaurants and mom-and-pop stores of all types. The shops and eateries are a perfect alternative to the big-name attractions that bracket the neighborhood. It's a little bit of everything in this neighborhood.

Subways are plentiful in Prospect Heights. Its proximity to Manhattan is another perk of the neighborhood. It's about a half-hour train ride. The B, D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4 and 5 subway lines all serve the Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center station. 2, 3, 4, B and Q trains cover the neighborhood and the A and C trains are nearby too.
