Property Description for 305 East 40th Street, 12-K

No broker fee: Perched high on the 12th floor of a friendly, doorman coop, this bright 2-BR unit functions like a 3-BR home with its bonus rooms and ample storage. It features a large dining foyer, spacious living room that has wall to wall windows which frame open city views to the South, a king sized bedroom, and a second corner bedroom with double exposures to South & East (partial river view!). The kitchen at the center and heart of it all, is windowed, roomy and shares the wonderful views to the East. Storage will not be a problem with closets and storage spaces scattered conveniently throughout the home, including a walk-in-closet off of the foyer and 9' of hall closets. There is also the bonus room (or walk-in-closet) off of the master bedroom which measures 9'-9" x 7'-3" and functions more like a true room - den/office/or nursery. Updates include a contemporary granite kitchen, rich espresso color-ed hardwood throughout, and pristine white bathroom. This home is located in The Hamilton co-op, known for its stellar service and low monthly maintenance, with a beautiful planted roof deck with excellent views of the city, laundry room, bicycle room, and parking garage. It's only a few blocks from Grand Central and all the conveniences that Midtown East has to offer. There's a Gristedes grocery store directly below plus Trader Joe's and Fairway in close proximity. Sorry, no pets. Unit is represented by licensed owner - ask what is truly is like to live in the space!

Tudor City | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Compared to other New York City neighborhoods Tudor City is a bit different. For starters, it's not very big. And technically it's not a neighborhood, it's more along the lines of a residential enclave of Tudor style buildings and parks. Even with the large neon sign boldly exclaiming the enclave's name, Tudor CIty is still a little tricky to find.

Located on the southern edge of Turtle Bay, Tudor City borders Murray Hill and lies on a low cliff which is just east of Second Avenue between 40th and 43rd Street. It overlooks the grounds of the United Nations along First Avenue and the East River beyond.

Tudor City is considered one of the world’s first skyscraper apartment complexes. This was considered a remarkable feat in 1929. Early marketing material, aimed at the middle class, described the development as well-planned, well-built, and well-priced housing. Developer Fred F. Finch designed Tudor City to keep middle class residents in Manhattan as many were fleeing the city for the suburbs.
