Property Description for 424 East 52nd Street, 9-E

PERFECT STARTER-PURPOSELY PRICED Move right into this beautifully updated home at the Southgate, located in a quiet street in Beekman. The well-appointed 1-BR home features a welcoming formal foyer with a walk-in closet, which leads into a large living room with working fireplace and large windows letting in Southern light. The galley kitchen is in sleek black-&-white and equipped with stainless steel appliances; along with the windowed, bright dining area, it will be a lovely backdrop to any furniture you bring. Your spa-like, windowed bathroom and yet another walk-in closet separates your living space from the quiet oasis that is your bedroom - a corner space measuring 12'-9" x 14'-6" large enough for a king-sized bed and sitting area or home office; it has double exposures to the South and West and is equipped with a walk-in closet (yes, the third!). This home is located in a charming, pre-war full service building with 24 hr doormen, laundry, storage, bike room and a landscaped garden for resident use. Maintenance includes electricity, and yes, pied-a-terre and pets are welcome.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
