Property Description for 161 West 16th Street, 7-E

Fall in love with this exquisitely renovated junior one-bedroom located in one of Chelsea’s premier full-service buildings.

Arguably one of the best junior one layouts in the building, Apartment 7E offers bright, southern exposure and a wonderful open floor plan. The owners spared absolutely no expense with this unit’s renovation just a few years back. The windowed kitchen is stunning, complete with bright white custom cabinetry, modern open shelving, beautiful penny drop backsplash, gleaming white countertops, chimney style range hood and, of course, stainless steel appliances (which includes a dishwasher, oven, counter depth refrigerator and under-cabinet microwave). Flowing seamlessly from the kitchen is the gracious and bright living area with excellent space for both entertaining and dining. Not to worry, custom-built window shades help temper the sun’s rays. Newly installed frosted glass pocket doors offer not one but two entrances to the oversized sleeping alcove, a perfect respite for peaceful slumber. A phenomenal dressing area has been outfitted with custom wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling closets. Completing the picture here is the truly gorgeous, spa-like bathroom that features soaking tub, frameless shower door, Kohler fixtures, magnificent tile work, and spacious vanity. Hardwood floors, high beamed ceilings, thru the wall air conditioning, and all new lighting throughout. This is a MUST see.

161 West 16th Street is a full-time doorman building with a gorgeous planted roof deck, resident superintendent, central laundry, and bicycle room. The building’s location simply cannot be beat, as nearly every subway line is nearby: 1, 2, 3, A, C, E, F, M, N, R, Q, W, 4, 5, 6, L and Path train. Enjoy all of the amazing restaurants, markets, shops, and cultural institutions nearby including: Union Square Park, Union Square Farmer’s Market, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, The Rubin Museum, and more. Pets allowed. There is a 2% flip tax, split equally by buyer and seller.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
