Property Description for 34A Rochester Ave

Introducing 34A Rochester, a 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath two-family residence in the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant. Gut renovated in 2016, this duplex over garden unit home features a beautiful brick front exterior, open floor plan, central A/C and heat, and hardwood floors throughout. The 1,680 SF home (excluding basement) also comes with an additional 1,070 SF of unused FAR to further expand the property if desired. An extra bonus is the already installed solar panel system on the roof. Located just two blocks away from the A and C trains (Utica express stop) with the B15, B25, B46, and B65 buses nearby, this lovely home makes for a convenient quick commute into Manhattan. Upon entering the parlor floor of the 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath duplex unit, one is greeted by the living room which has an elegant decorative fireplace surrounded by exposed brick. It then seamlessly transitions into the kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher. The kitchen flows nicely into the dining area which also has a charming decorative brick fireplace. A half bath and a full-sized washer/dryer unit are conveniently located on this floor as well. Easy access to the tranquil backyard garden is through the windowed eat-in kitchen/dining area. On the upper floor reside the 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. An en-suite full bathroom is located in the primary bedroom, with a second full bathroom down the hall. Two large skylights complement the smart layout of the upper floor as well. Access is also available to the basement through an outdoor coal chute. The 1-bedroom, 1 bath garden unit, complete with stainless steel appliances and decorative brick fireplace, provides easy access to the basement, where there is ample storage available as well as a designated full-sized washer/dryer. Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
