Property Description for 1014 Greene Ave

A four-story renovated brownstone in Bed-Stuy for $1.36M?  You bet!  Located near the border of Bed Stuy and Bushwick, 1014 Greene Ave is surrounded by a mix of new development, Victorian brownstones, old school establishments, hipster venues, and is convenient to Broadway shopping and transportation.  This 2833GSF-plus-cellar double-duplex layout offers the opportunity to live in your own duplex home while collecting duplex-level rent — with an affordable purchase price. An edgy design style defines all four stories; the hallway is lined with on-trend black & white ceramic tile, offsetting the original stairway and exposed brick wall. The play of old and new inside aptly reflects the old and new layers and textures of the neighborhood. The lower duplex has an open floor plan featuring a renovated kitchen with quartz countertops, classic subway tile, farm sink, white cabinetry and double-width refrigerator — a walk-out to the pretty south-facing backyard is your private oasis in the city. A convenient laundry nook sits just off the kitchen. The rear extension can be used as a spare bedroom or the perfect home office. The living/dining areas combine for a comfortable place to hang out or entertain. One floor up you'll find two large bedrooms, each with open industrial-pipe walk-in closets for a cool look and ample storage. The rear bedroom is exceptionally sunlit and features an original marble mantle. The upper duplex also features an open plan layout offering a large, full-width living room with an original marble mantle, a spacious dining area, renovated kitchen with a graphic tile backsplash, farm sink, white cabinetry and double-width refrigerator. A convenient laundry nook sits just off the kitchen. The top floor is comprised of three bedrooms, two with open industrial-pipe closets. 1014 Greene Ave is conveniently located at the intersection of Bed-Stuy and Bushwick, near a plethora of shopping on Broadway and the J train. Just a block away is Angel Fish Market, Broadway and Collado Meat Markets, Foodtown, and Heart's Wine & Spriits.  Local establishments include Paradice Palase Arts Platform, Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center, The Buran restaurant and bar, Fat Doughnut, Wonderville, Looking Glass Bar & Kitchen, Marco's, Chez Alex and more. Local parks and playgrounds include The People's Garden, PO Reinaldo Salgado Playground, the newly redesigned Jesse Owens Playground including pool and track, and Citizens for a Better Community Garden. A short walk will take you to the many more great establishments in both Bed Stuy and Bushwick.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
