Property Description for 708 Greenwich Street, 4/5F

As a total real estate nerd, I often find myself roaming down the beautiful streets of New York City fantasizing about what beautiful and creative homes might exist behind these building facades that people walk past every day. Apartment 4/5F at 708 Greenwich is that exact fantasy come to life. Tucked away in an unassuming building is one of the most spectacular West Village duplex lofts to hit the market in years.

No expense was spared in this true gut renovation of a nearly 2,500 square foot 2 bed + office, and 2.5 bath home from 2018 that has hardly been used since. Upon entering the property, there is a long foyer featuring an amazing gallery wall and multiple closets. This opens into the jaw-dropping living space. The first thing you will notice is the stunning curved staircase that is a piece of art all on its own. From there, it is hard to say whether you will be taken by the soaring ceiling height, gorgeous new wide oak floors, the corner windows, the wood-burning fireplace, or the central air. All lighting is controlled by specialty Forbes and Lomax fixtures. Every square inch of this room is exciting.

In the front corner is a stunning kitchen crafted by Smallbone of Devizes. The hand-painted walnut cabinetry is perfectly complemented by a gorgeous marble backsplash and counter with a rare blue veining that is to die for. There is a full suite of Miele appliances and an abundance of storage. The first level is completed by a beautiful powder room and in-unit laundry.

As you go upstairs to the bedroom level, there are skylights and a wall of windows looking out on the beautifully landscaped terrace that overlooks the beautiful architecture of the historic West Village. This landing area makes a perfect sitting room or home office. Adjacent to the room is a large guest room with a beautiful ensuite bathroom.

On the other side is the incredible primary suite. This room is large enough for King-Sized furniture and a separate seating area. It features skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows with automatic solar shades.

The primary bathroom is arguably the most gorgeous part of the home. The spa level finishes include a large steam shower, a separate statement piece soaking tub, Waterworks fixtures, and custom white marble tiles that have been perfectly laid in a gorgeous pattern. There are double vanities complemented by two large closets. The largest closet, however, is just off the primary bathroom and would rival some of the best closets in the neighborhood. It has been outfitted with top-of-the-line California closet finishes, and is ready for a spectacular wardrobe collection.

708 Greenwich is a boutique coop with a full-time super, bike storage, roof deck, and keyed elevator system. Shareholders enjoy an incredible location, a well-maintained building, and very low monthly maintenance.

West Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Known for its high-end shopping on Bleecker Street, the elegant brownstones dating back to colonial times that have been depicted in films and television, the abundance of cafes, and its celebrity residents, the West Village neighborhood is what springs to mind when you think of the essence of New York City. This is a neighborhood where the pace of life is less hurried, and harried, than in other neighborhoods, exuding an understated elegance and naturally beautiful sophistication and charm.

The West Village has something to offer everyone, whether your taste runs to designer goods and trend-setting restaurants, or you are happier browsing thrift stores and whiling away the hours in conversation with friends at a hole-in-the-wall coffee shop. There are public green spaces dotted throughout this neighborhood, where you can stop and commune with nature, or grab a bite to eat from a local deli or cafe and have a picnic. The Hudson River Park offers recreational opportunities and events for all ages.

There is a tradition of bohemian non-conformity attached to the West Village. Even the intimate, tree-lined, and sometimes cobblestoned, streets refuse to conform to the grid layout of the rest of Manhattan. Activism and social consciousness have always been hallmarks of this neighborhood. The neighborhood is diverse and accepting of all. You will find artistic venues and experimental theater, together with a broad spectrum of bars, including speakeasies, and restaurants featuring myriad cuisines.

The West Village is primarily residential, conspicuously lacking the high-rise office buildings that characterize other neighborhoods. This lends an air of quiet sophistication during the day. At night, the area becomes more lively, as residents frequent their favorite restaurants, theaters, cafes, and gastropubs. Housing consists of brownstones dating back to the 18th century, low-rise walk-ups, townhouses, artists lofts, and condos in renovated buildings. Newer high-rise residential buildings are cropping up along the Hudson River. Always popular with celebrities and artistic types, the West Village is now attracting families and young professionals in the tech and financial fields.
