Property Description for 244 East 5th Street, GARDEN

Spacious, zen and quiet one-bedroom apartment with about 1,000 sf and the exclusive use of the garden when you can barbecue, sunbath and relax. As soon as you enter this apartment, you feel like you are entering a cottage in England with its exposed beam ceiling and wooden floor. This flat has been recently completely renovated blending contemporary design with original details and is in an overall excellent condition. The floor plan is more like an open space, a loft with high end bathroom fixtures, a chef kitchen with top of the line appliances and your own LG washer and dryer. The kitchen is open on a dining alcove and living room. The large bedroom is facing the lush garden when you can definitively entertain and relax. This residence comes with its own separate entrance below the stoop and is located on a landmark tree-lined block between the Bowery and Second Avenue in a gorgeous limestone townhouse where the renowned American photographer Paul Strand lived in the 60's. Great restaurants and coffee shops nearby with 4, 5 & 6 trains around the corner at Astor Place and F trains running on Second Avenue. The apartment is available at the beginning of September and is only shown through open houses by appointment only. Dogs are welcome on a case-by-case basis. No smoking in the apartment. Deal requirements: First month of rent + 1-month security deposit + broker fee. Please email me directly to schedule an appointment.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
