Property Description for 860 United Nations Plaza, 10-D

Apartment 10D has been reimagined with a master's eye for detail. Every corner of this home has been lovingly and thoughtfully designed.
Enter into an expansive living room featuring newly installed European walnut floors in a herringbone pattern. As you pass through doorways, all have been lifted to a uniform 9 feet high giving the illusion of soaring ceilings. The walls are covered in stucco veneziano, this handcrafted finish catches and reflects the light from the windows that span the width of the entire apartment. An overall impression of clean lines, glittering light, and sumptuous surfaces define this elegant space. There is a gorgeous glimpse of the east river and when you have a need for privacy there are automatic sunshades that easily close.
The galley kitchen was created with a cook in mind. It is an ample width featuring top of the line appliances, a Viking stove, Subzero refrigerator as well as a wine cooler. The counter tops are beautiful white milk glass that is pristine looking as well as being a wonderful surface to work on.
The bedroom is a serene oasis with open shelving for books, a comfortable seating area where you can read or relax and a perfect spot for a state-of-the art wall-mounted television. A delightful surprise awaits behind hidden pocket doors that open up into a magnificent walk in closet fashioned in solid walnut that is almost a room in itself. There is an area for hanging garments, a dedicated spot for shoes, pull out drawers and additional open shelving throughout.
The bathroom is a spa-worthy retreat with a custom 3-D box pattern marble floor, a floor-to-ceiling glass shower enclosure with rain forest shower head and white milk glass recessed shelving. This apartment is located in one of the noteworthy white glove mid-century buildings in Manhattan and was built by Harrison and Abramovitz in 1966. The building design encompasses two towers with a circular driveway, triple height lobby, 24 hour doormen and Concierge. Amenities include a new fitness center with a Pilates studio, residents lounge with kitchen, entertainment rooms, 2 conference rooms, golf simulator, billiards room, in-house dry cleaning service, rooftop sun decks and a garage. Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
