Property Description for 242 East 25th Street, 6-E

Make this great alcove studio with Empire State views your home or investment.

Built in 2004, this building is not a Coop. It is a Condop, similar to a Condo. You can rent from day one, and rent it for as long as you want. The monthly maintenance is 50% tax deductible and 90% financing is allowed.

This impressive alcove studio features a thoughtfully designed open layout kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops that allows you the luxury of being able to prepare food while entertaining guests at the same time. The living room has enough space for an oversized couch, coffee table, home office and much more. The layout of the unit is versatile - you can keep the room light and airy by keeping the alcove area open, or separate the area with a wall or a sliding door for additional privacy. There is also ample storage space, with a double wide closet by the sleeping area and a WALK-IN closet off of the dining area. The bathroom also offers a linen closet with W/D hookup, which can be converted to a laundry closet.

The building offers great amenities, including a part-time doorman, a 360 degree view of the city from the roof deck, state of the art gym, as well as a laundry room, bike racks, and additional storage. This apartment building sits in the heart of Kips Bay, home to an abundance of retail stores and long established businesses alike including Trader Joe's, Target, and Fairway. Transportation, specifically the 6, N, R, W, and L trains are all easily accessible.

Kips Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

If you take a walk through Kips Bay, which is loosely defined as the area between 23rd street and 34th street and the East River to almost Lexington, you’ll quickly learn it's a hodgepodge of sorts and not as well defined as other neighborhoods in New York City. Some New Yorkers say Kips Bay has an identity crisis because 1st, 2nd, and 3rd avenues are distinctly different from one another as you traverse them. Despite the perceived lack of neighborhood vibe there are others that appreciate its affordability and convenience.

First Avenue is dominated by hospitals and hospital buildings such as NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital to name a few. Second Avenue is a mosaic of convenience stores, fast food joints and nondescript brick buildings. Third Avenue is saturated with small bars and gastropubs and the twenty somethings that patronize them.

No judgement against Kips Bay here. It’s a great neighborhood that is just as much a part of New York City as any other neighborhood. Kips Bay It’s bordered by Murray Hill to the North, Stuyvesant Town and Gramercy Park to the South, and Rose Hill to the West. The neighborhood is partly defined by newer high-rise apartments, brick rowhouses, and former tenement buildings.
