Property Description for 153 East 57th Street, 18-F

Make this southern facing studio with a one-of-a-kind floor plan your very own! Upon entering, your eyes immediately go to the wall of windows which leads you to your very own wrap-around terrace. The separate windowed kitchen has stainless steel appliances and an island with bar seating, where you can enjoy your morning coffee and paper. The custom murphy bed gives this unit extra space for everyday living. As you walk from the main room down the hallway, you pass both shelving units and closets (4) before getting to the windowed bathroom. The through-the-wall air conditioner and ceiling fan help keep you cool in the summer and the baseboard heat allows you to stay cozy in the winter. Your monthly maintenance includes electric and gas plus there’s a reduced cost for internet/cable service for shareholders.

The Gotham Towne House is a full service co-op with a 24 hour doorman, live in super, an updated laundry room, and a garage right next door. It is located in the heart of the city near the best shopping, including two blocks from Bloomingdales and one block from Whole Foods. Museums, theatres and restaurants are all close by as well. Secondary home ownership, co-purchasing and cats are welcome on a case by case basis but unfortunately dogs are not allowed. The maintenance is 60% tax deductible and subletting is allowed after one year of residency, for a maximum of 5 years.

Midtown East | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Midtown West and Midtown East have a lot in common. They’re bustling, iconic, and full of people. But just like siblings, their personalities can be vastly different. Midtown East is a bit more sophisticated and doesn’t quite have the vivacity and unruliness that its westerly counterpart exudes.

Midtown East is bordered by 42nd to the south, 59th Street to the north, 5th Avenue to the west, and 3rd Avenue to the east.

The neighborhood is famous for its high-end stores, tourist attractions, posh hotels (budget ones too), and iconic architecture. Midtown East is also one of the largest financial and business hubs in Manhattan. During normal business hours the sidewalks are full of commuters and people moving from point A to point B. In the early evening, when the masses have left for the day, things suddenly get a little quieter and the sidewalks have a lot less foot traffic.

Although largely a commercial neighborhood, residential areas of Midtown East do exist on the eastern section of the neighborhood.

Grand Central Station is located in Midtown East and like Midtown West, it’s an extremely commutable neighborhood. The 4, 5, 6, 7 and S trains whisk people in and out of the neighborhood 24 hours a day. Grand Central Station also serves as a hub for New York State and Connecticut commuter rails. These trains can take you anywhere along the Hudson River or up into Connecticut. It’s perfect for day tripping.
