Property Description for 451 Hancock Street

Beautifully renovated with original accents throughout, 451 Hancock St is an ideal home for owners that want that perfect Brooklyn home while collecting income from tenants. Located in the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant, it features all new flooring, walls, windows, and custom cabinetry, with exposed brick and original tiling accents that hearken back to the building's early days. The kitchen will blow the mind of even the most semi-serious home chef, with an extra wide refrigerator, gas range AND wall oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and more storage than anyone would know what to do with. Two beautiful bedrooms grace the garden level, each with an en suite bathroom, and an extra tall basement provides plenty of possibilities. The garden is spacious and beautiful, with a parlor level deck that begs to be the site of many after work drinks and al fresco dinners. Situated in prime Bed-Stuy, 451 Hancock is just steps from dozens of trendy restaurants, craft cocktail bars, cafes, and shops. Local favorites include Sincerely Tommy, Peaches HotHouse, Bed-Vyne Cocktail, Stone Fruit, Lovers Rock, LunAtico, Speedy Romeo, BKLYN Blend, Glorietta Baldy, Clementine Bakery, and Brooklyn Beso. Bounded by the energy of a diverse community, it's close to Kosciuszko Pool, Herbert Von King Park, and several neighborhood playgrounds and community gardens. Nearby subway lines include the A/C at Kingston-Throop and Utica Avenues.

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
