Property Description for 619 Vanderbilt Street

Located on the highly coveted and extremely quiet Vanderbilt Street. Only one block long and a 600 foot walk to the park, Vanderbilt Playground, and Uncle Louie G’s ice cream shop! This one-of-a-kind home is built 19 feet wide and features WINDOWS ON THREE sides as well as a RARE CURB CUT for private parking located in front of the house. Windows from three sides of the house provide warm sunlight and a sense of airiness. Sitting on an extra large 150-ft lot, the extremely deep backyard is landscaped with a brick path weaving through and features a pergola and beautiful giant Red Oak tree. Upon entering the double-door foyer, this gorgeous home opens up into an open flowing living room and the separate dining area features a wood burning stove. The chef’s kitchen was designed to maximize the views of the backyard with an additional dining area in the sunroom off the kitchen, perfect for your morning cup of coffee or tea. Note, if you prefer a gas range, there is a capped gas line located under the induction cooktop so it can easily be switched back over to gas. Across from the kitchen is a full bathroom and vented washer & dryer. The second floor has three generous bedrooms, an office, and a full bathroom. The third and top floor is currently utilized as a bedroom and office. It also provides access to the home’s square turret! The full basement has a sauna, ample storage, and a storm door for access from the driveway. The location cannot be beat: 1 minute walk to the park and the playground. One of the most quiet streets in Windsor Terrace at only a block long with almost no through traffic. The best of the dining scene at your fingertips including Le Paddock, Cena, Della, Hamiltons, Batata, to name a few. Easy access on and off Prospect Expressway and the F and G trains. Of course the Farmers Market which is open Wednesdays and Sundays at Bartel-Pritchard Square!

Windsor Terrace | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The tiny, comma-shaped neighborhood of Windsor Terrace is bookended between two of Brooklyn’s largest green spaces, Prospect Park and the massive Green-Wood cemetery. Aside from the presence of the Prospect Park Expressway, which dissects the neighborhood in two, this residential community offers a suburban sensibility with its tree-lined streets, low volume traffic and the low height character of its streetscape.

Many homes in the area are low to the ground, lending a suburban feel to the neighborhood, and the area has been down-zoned to maintain its low-rise appeal and character. There are plentiful brick row houses that have very low turnover. If you are lucky enough to buy or rent one, you tend to hold on to it. There are also small apartment buildings, private homes, condos and multi-family homes in a wide price range

There is commercial development along Prospect Park West, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Prospect Avenue, but even these new stores and restaurants are mostly family-owned and operated, maintaining the small-town charm. The pace of life is slower. The schools are good, which is a big draw for families with young children. The people are friendly, which gives a real sense of neighborhood and community to Windsor Terrace.
