Property Description for 542 16th Street

542 16th Street, nestled in the quintessentially Brooklyn neighborhood of Windsor Terrace, awaits as your new oasis. Welcoming you into this immaculate townhouse, you'll find a proper mud room, allowing you to kick off your shoes and start to unwind. Upon entering, you're met with a sprawling living room/dining room with a working fireplace, perfect for the holiday season when you want that extra hug of warmth. The kitchen features a four-door Samsung refrigerator, a 30-inch Electrolux five-burner gas range and oven, a KitchenAid dishwasher and radiant floor heating. This kitchen is accented with three large skylights, a spiral staircase to the lower floor, and a 60-inch Pella sliding door with access to large, maintenance-free Trex deck and railing system. Downstairs you’ll find a completely finished basement featuring a Whirlpool duet washer and Samsung steam dryer and plenty of space for friends and family to visit. The home is cooled on all three levels, with two Samsung split-units divided into six separately controlled air conditioner units. Additionally, there is a street level entrance into the basement, with a large insulated and finished storage area, perfect for bicycles, strollers, and all outdoor sporting gear. 542 16th street is located on a gorgeous, tree-lined, picturesque block of row houses just one block from the Southwest side of Prospect Park, and only 1.5 blocks from the F and G lines . This charming home is located 2 blocks from Public School 154, and 3 blocks from Windsor Farms Market and Walgreens Pharmacy. This 3-block long strip is packed with shopping, restaurants, and service stores. Between two of the borough’s biggest green spaces, Windsor Terrace is a charming residential neighborhood peppered with porches, gardens and beautiful details. Named for the English city, Windsor Terrace has a pleasantly suburban feel thanks to low-slung homes and few through streets, which keeps traffic to a minimum. The Prospect Expressway that bisects the neighborhood only serves to make it feel even smaller — in a good way. Bordered by Prospect Park and Green-Wood Cemetery, there’s no shortage of space to roam. With a good mix of new businesses and restaurants, the neighborhood has been able to grow without losing the charm that makes it so special and unique.

Windsor Terrace | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The tiny, comma-shaped neighborhood of Windsor Terrace is bookended between two of Brooklyn’s largest green spaces, Prospect Park and the massive Green-Wood cemetery. Aside from the presence of the Prospect Park Expressway, which dissects the neighborhood in two, this residential community offers a suburban sensibility with its tree-lined streets, low volume traffic and the low height character of its streetscape.

Many homes in the area are low to the ground, lending a suburban feel to the neighborhood, and the area has been down-zoned to maintain its low-rise appeal and character. There are plentiful brick row houses that have very low turnover. If you are lucky enough to buy or rent one, you tend to hold on to it. There are also small apartment buildings, private homes, condos and multi-family homes in a wide price range

There is commercial development along Prospect Park West, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Prospect Avenue, but even these new stores and restaurants are mostly family-owned and operated, maintaining the small-town charm. The pace of life is slower. The schools are good, which is a big draw for families with young children. The people are friendly, which gives a real sense of neighborhood and community to Windsor Terrace.
