Property Description for 307 East 12th Street, 1-C

Live in the heart of the East Village in this tranquil, loft-like 2 BR/ 2.5 BA duplex defined by soaring 11 ft ceilings, 17 windows, and semi-private outdoor space. Rich in New York history, this landmark Victorian Gothic style co-op was designed by Calvert Vaux, one of New York’s most influential architects responsible for the design of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Museum of Natural History, and contributed to architectural features of Central Park and Prospect Park. This pin drop quiet oasis features a spacious open chef's kitchen, abundant cabinets and closets, a massive 500 SF private storage room, making this generous apartment feel larger than its approximate 1,200 SF. An open dining area, huge coat closet and powder room lead to an airy living room with a private entrance to the meticulously tended garden that is only shared with two other units. Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms with large closets, both with fully renovated bathrooms, a washer/dryer, and space enough for a home office between them. Every room has at least three windows and a view of the garden, allowing sunlight to fill the apartment. 307 E 12th Street is a wonderful community nestled in the East Village and conveniently located near Union Square, the L train at Third Avenue and surrounded by a plethora of wonderful institutions such as Veselka, Momofuku, Tompkins Square Park and so much more. If you're searching for a home with character and history, this may be it.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
