Property Description for 258 Saint Nicholas Ave, 8-A

Step into 8A and experience a meticulous renovation that would make Steve Jobs proud. This loft space was not just renovated, it was reimagined. The home underwent a complete transformation, rebuilt from the studs up, not merely to change it, but to perfect it. The final product is an architectural masterpiece striking a balance between elegant simplicity and extraordinary functionality. The intuitive convenience of this open concept, 2000 square foot 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home can convert to a 4 bed 3 bath and still feature its custom doors, custom wiring, custom plumbing, and custom lighting. A technological dream, the owner spared no expense by adding the latest in technology into the home for the ultimate living experience. As you enter the home your feet grace the 5-inch rift-and-quarter-sawn solid oak floors, harmoniously accompanied by matching doors. Walls of windows offer unfiltered natural light from the Southwest and North, turning the loft into a canvas painted with warmth and vibrancy. The open kitchen is not just a place to cook; it’s a place to create. White matte-glass cabinetry melds with steel-reinforced shelving, encapsulating an aesthetic that is both elegant and durable. Appliances from LG, Miele, and Samsung aren’t merely top-of-the-line; they redefine the line. Automatically open the microwave with a wave of your hand or the refrigerator with a wave of your foot to make your next date night perfect. Added garbage disposal, venting hood, a quartz waterfall island, and Cea fixtures imported from Italy elevate the kitchen from mere utility to artistry. As you transition into the primary bedroom suite, the generous space serves as a welcoming canvas. Custom sun and blackout shades aren’t merely functional; they are tone-setters, inviting you to dictate the ambiance at will. The two floating doors aren’t just doors; they’re a marvel in carpentry and design that discreetly veil Elfa closets. But what truly sets this space apart is the en-suite bathroom. It feels like a sculpture. Carved entirely out of Corian, this sanctuary includes a deep soaking tub that sets itself as an oasis of personal luxury. Ah, the second bedroom. But, let’s be clear: calling it a “second” bedroom hardly does it justice. This room is a masterstroke in space utilization and innovative design. Bespoke cabinetry isn’t just storage; it’s 350 cubic feet of potential, elegantly concealed. The hidden 77-inch television elevates your viewing to an event. And the built-in bed? It folds up, disappearing to allow the room itself to transform according to your needs. Now, about the sliding wall. It’s not just a partition, it’s the freedom of choice. Open it, and the home is its wondrous loft-y self with the living room and kitchen seamlessly integrating into the entertaining area, inviting social flow. Close it, and you’ve created a private enclave for your guests with their own bathroom. This is not merely a room; it’s flexibility, luxury, and innovation coalescing into a living space. Finally, let's talk about the intelligence of this home—because it's not just a home; it's a "smart home," a synthesis of form and function where technology serves not as an afterthought but as an integral layer of the experience. Within the immaculate white walls, control is literally at your fingertips. One remote effortlessly adjusts the sun and blackout shades, a mere tap of another opens windows to invite the outside in. Your voice—yes, just your voice—is all that's needed to modulate the lights, both in brightness and color. As for the bathrooms, calling them merely "custom" would be an understatement. They are labors of meticulous engineering, outfitted with state-of-the-art faucets, plumbing, and toilets that don't just function—they inspire. Complete with self-cleaning features and warming bidets, auto-plumbing shut-off with leak sensors, these are sanctuaries of modern comfort and hygienic innovation. Built-in 2008, The Dwyer is a 55-unit condominium set within a former warehouse building - meaning the concrete slabs between each floor provide pin-drop quiet living and utter privacy. Residents enjoy full-time doorman service, live-in superintendent, a bike room, and a massive roof terrace with a small catering kitchen and commanding views stretching across Central Park and Midtown Manhattan. Located just inches from renowned dining and nightlife venues, a grocery store across the street, premier shopping destinations, and multiple parks, the home offers effortless transportation with A/C, B/D and 1/2/3 trains, excellent bus service, and CitiBike stations within easy reach. With 11 more years left on the tax abatement and super-low monthly payments, The Dwyer’s Loft 8A offers a genuinely unparalleled living experience in NYC.

Harlem | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The neighborhood called West Harlem by the locals is known as Manhattanville to neighborhood newcomers. The area is culturally diverse and might be considered a microcosm of the city as a whole.

Columbia University has recently expanded into the area, which is attracting student residents from all over the world. Together with students from the City College of New York and young professionals fleeing higher prices in other neighborhoods, this influx of younger residents has brought with it more restaurants and bars on W 125th Street to serve this clientele. There are also new ventures, like a rock-climbing gym, to cater to the interests of these students and young professionals. At the same time, there are many small, family-owned shops and restaurants that have been anchors of the neighborhood for multiple generations.

The area has been through a housing upgrade, as older properties have been renovated and abandoned properties have been razed to make room for new development. There are still reasonably priced apartments available. Young professionals are finding that there is a certain cachet to living in West Harlem. It provides a convenient commute to the city and all of its amenities, while providing a sense of escape at the end of a long work day.

While rentals are popular with the student population, the young professionals are delighted to find pre-war brownstones, pre-war co-ops (including some income-capped HDFCs for lower- and middle-income buyers), and post-war condos that they can afford, although prices are rising. Some new low-rise developments, sporting virtual doormen and desired amenities, are cropping up.
