Property Description for 1 Fifth Ave, 13-AJK

Spectacular High Floor Greenwich Village Five Bedroom with Park and City Views

Situated on the 13th floor of One Fifth Avenue, this magnificent, sprawling five bedroom residence offering spectacular views of Washington Square Park, Greenwich Village and Lower Manhattan, was last offered for sale more than four decades ago.

This exceedingly rare corner home in one of downtown's most coveted buildings features a gracious entrance gallery preceding a large south-east corner exposure living room with a separate area for dining and four oversized windows that bathe the home in sunlight. The views of Washington Square Park, Washington Mews and much of downtown, including the Freedom Tower, are stunning both by day and by night. The large open kitchen with a center island has been thoughtfully designed and is perfectly configured for entertaining. An adjacent east-facing windowed home office could be incorporated into the living room to create a magnificent 24' x 28' Great Room with five windows.

The large north-east corner-exposure primary bedroom features a windowed en-suite marble bathroom and an incredible windowed dressing room that doubles as a home office. As one approaches the north wing of the apartment, there's a gorgeous full marble bathroom, which also serves as a powder room, and a wonderful sound-proof music room large enough to accommodate two pianos.

Connected by a 30-foot hall lined with bookshelves and cabinetry, the north wing of the apartment consists of four lovely bedrooms-three of which face east with views of Greenwich Village and one of which faces south, a full bathroom and an area with a kitchenette that could be converted to a home office, playroom or even an enormous closet.

Additional features of the home include beautiful burled-wood built-ins and paneling throughout the residence, thermostat-controlled thru-wall heat & air conditioning and an endless number of closets.

1 Fifth Avenue now permits the installation of in-unit Washer Dryers subject to Board Approval and pursuant to the building's W/D installation guidelines.

There is a small, ongoing assessment of $447.69 per month for this apartment which has already been included in the stated maintenance.

One Fifth Avenue is an iconic landmarked pre-war Art Deco cooperative which towers over Washington Square Park and was originally built as a hotel in 1927 by the architect Harvey Wiley Corbett. This prestigious full-service white glove building with its recently restored two-level landmarked lobby and newly renovated hallways has a 24-hr doorman/concierge, live-in superintendent, full-time porters, private social room, library and central laundry room. The building permits pets, pieds-a-terre and up to 65% financing.

Shown By Appointment.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
