Property Description for 1278 Prospect Place

Enjoy the privacy of a single-family home with this beautifully renovated 4 bedroom, 3 bath townhouse. Thoughtfully redesigned and upgraded in 2018, including a new kitchen and energy-efficient ductless HVACs, this legal two-family used as a one-family can easily be converted back should your future needs change. Through a foyer large enough for storing shoes and jackets, the living room and open contemporary kitchen (equipped with stainless steel appliances, including a vented hood) welcome you into this expansive home with over 2000 square feet of above grade living space. A middle bedroom, currently used as an office/guest room, has access to an adjacent full bathroom and offers overnight guests privacy from the three additional bedrooms upstairs. The formal dining room in the back overlooks the SOUTH-FACING YARD with patio and is already set up for growing a canopy of fresh herbs and vegetables in the spring. Up the stairs is an impressive landing, boasting a skylight and enough room for an office, home gym, or library. The primary bedroom receives calming northern light throughout the day and features two closets with custom storage systems and en-suite bathroom with DOUBLE vanity, RADIANT-HEATED floors, and an oversized shower. Two additional bedrooms have access to a third bathroom and the LAUNDRY ROOM is equipped with an external vent for the dryer and a custom built retractable folding station. A second washer and vented dryer can be found in the finished cellar, which offers nearly 500 square feet of additional usable space and includes a WINE REFRIGERATOR to keep your collection safe. 1278 Prospect Place is uniquely situated across from St. Johns Park, dubbed the "athletes haven in the heart of Brooklyn," featuring basketball courts, track and field, and a rec center with indoor SWIMMING. The popular Brooklyn Children's Museum is just a couple of blocks away. This vibrant and diverse Crown Heights community enjoys dining at local hot spots like Bakerie, Boeuf & Bun, Mozzarella, Almah Cafe, Daughter Cafe, and Sweet Expressions. Commuting is easy with the 2, 3, 4, 5 trains on Eastern Parkway and A/C trains on Fulton.

Crown Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Originally known as Crown Hill by the Lenape Indians that lived there, Crown Heights has evolved into a diverse neighborhood, occupied primarily by Hasidic Jews and one of the largest Caribbean populations to be found anywhere outside of the West Indies.

Head over to Nostrand Avenue, one of the main West Indian commercial areas in the neighborhood, which is lined with stores that have been in those exact same places for generations, providing their goods and services to area residents. Kingston Avenue has similar commercial activities that support the Jewish community, and Franklin Avenue shows the most signs of change and gentrification, with an ever-expanding mix of yoga studios, coffee shops, and organic grocery stores that serve the influx of young professionals. No matter which of these areas you visit, you will find an interesting mix of businesses that you wouldn’t normally picture as existing side-by-side. It is all part of the cultural diversity of Crown Heights.

The neighborhood is bisected, from east to west, by Eastern Parkway, which is a beautiful, 3-mile-long boulevard lined with mature trees. This leafy oasis was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famed designer of Central Park, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D. C.

You will find a mix of low-rise apartment buildings, large middle-class elevator buildings, brownstones, and some luxury buildings. Century-old architecture stands next to modern residential developments in a visually interesting mix of styles, much as the diversity of the residents exists. People who would not normally meet and mix are forging new pathways to cultural understanding by working, living, and playing together in the same neighborhood.
